I’ve been to this restaurant twice and the experience was incredible each time. The attention to detail from the embroidered napkins to the waiters really sets this restaurant apart. The steaks are delicious and come with complimentary bone marrow. My partner had a lamb shank and he enjoyed it too. I also recommend the garlic sauce, it was a pleasant surprise as I usually get mushroom. The Parmesan mash is also great. They have a good selection of very well made cocktails and wines. The outside seating area is beautiful too

I can’t recommend this The Fat Butcher  enough!

They accommodated us last minute after a cycling tour. The food was outstanding—each cut of steak was perfectly cooked and incredibly flavorful. The sides were delicious too, and the portions left us more than satisfied. To top it all off, the meal was fantastic value for money. If you’re looking for quality food, a warm atmosphere, and great service, this is the place to go.

My first time at the Fat Butcher and what incredible steaks! I couldn’t resist the 500g ribeye! Perfectly cooked on the rare side of medium rare, served with marrow bone for even more flavour. Definitely the best steak I’ve had in South Africa.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff and even the owner came around to check on me
Excellent wine list, with all Stellenbosch wines and a decent price for the quality of the meat
And they are open on a Sunday night, which is unusual for Stellenbosch

Outstanding Outstanding.  Well done to The Fat Butcher. Entering the establishment was greeted warmly by all staff even those that were carrying orders to patrons. Our waitress gave perfect service.  Manager spent time at our table explaining the wines and our food experience. Steaks was soft and cooked to perfection. You can guess by now this place was fully booked. So I advise you to make a booking.  I am coming back :)

We enjoyed the dinner, appreciated their great service and friendly staff. I can't say the food/ meat was perfect but overall good experience and worth to try.
Will come again to try steak again. Desserts were 6/10. Starters 8/10.
