Very pretty old machiya renovated as an 8 seating single counter kitchen kaiseki restaurant. Very copious and affordable omakase course. Authentic Kyoto kaiseki in a contemporary setting. The chef and his wife are friendly and professional.

古びた長屋をリノベしたお店です。入り口は民家のようで、目立つ看板もないので、知らなかったら見過ごしてしまうかもしれません。
店内に入るまず目につくのは、大きなカウンターです。この上で料理の仕上げが行われるので、その様子を目の前で見ることができます。
お料理はちょっと変わっていて、イノベーティブな和食と言うべきかもしれません。塩はギリギリに抑え、香りを大切にしている印象でした。お皿も現代作家さんの木のお皿を多用しており、至る所にご主人の世界観が感じられます。
この日一番驚かされたのがデザート。炭火であぶったイチゴが香ばしく美味しいこと。イチゴたっぷりのアイスクリームも素晴らしいのですが、クリームがミントの香りなのがビックリでした。いろいろと工夫なさるのが好きなようです。

This store is a renovated old tenement house. The entrance looks like a private house, and there is no noticeable signboard, so if you don't know about it, you might miss it.
The first thing you notice when you enter the store is the large counter. The cooking process is done on top of this, so you can watch it happen right in front of your eyes.
The food is a bit unusual and could be called innovative Japanese cuisine. I got the impression that they kept the salt to a minimum and valued the aroma. Many of the dishes are made by contemporary artists, and you can feel the owner's worldview everywhere.
The thing that surprised me most that day was the dessert. Strawberries roasted over charcoal are fragrant and delicious. The strawberry-filled ice cream was great, but I was surprised by the mint flavor of the cream. It seems like you like to tinker with things.

既に、予約困難店となってます。
食事終了21時過ぎ、ざっと3時間の幽玄な雰囲気と旬の素材の持ち味を活かしたお料理と、大将の配慮に富んだ接客が気持ち良い雰囲気を頂戴しました。

宮川町水簾で料理長をしてた技量は確かです。
特に、塚原の筍は、勿論堀で、アク抜き無しでの提供、柔らかく、甘く、最高でした。
再訪は間違い無しです。

烏丸御池、北東。烏丸から一筋東に北へ上がった場所。町家が並ぶ道にあります。
店内はカウンターのみ。7席程。
天井が高く、町家の造りを活かされた落ち着いた和とアンティーク調が織りなすおしゃれな空間です。

また、店主との会話がとっても楽しい。

季節ごとに再訪したい、お気に入りのお店が増えました。

My husband and I went to this popular restaurant for dinner.
Karasuma Oike, northeast. This is a place directly east and north from Karasuma. It is located on a road lined with townhouses.
There is only a counter inside the store. About 7 seats.
It is a stylish space with a high ceiling and a calm Japanese atmosphere that takes advantage of the townhouse structure and an antique style.

素材がすごいのは当然として、そこに甘んじない料理の工夫も努力も技術もすごい。美味しいものを追求してる姿勢がかっこいいです。すぐに予約困難になりそう。
