Traditional Chinese cuisine food since 1948.
The foods are excellent to me.
I tried the Shark Fin Omelette (桂花翅), lot of crab meats and good aroma.
The Sweet Sour pork is crispy externally and soft internally.
And the prawn spring roll also crispy  hot externally but cold and fresh internally.

Price is reasonable but you have to find parking else where and walk here.

Must get booking before you come. 4 shop lots big capacity. Really good traditional Cantonese dishes. Highly recommend the fish paste with chicken skin and almond and lotus rice, very fragrant

One of the local foodie institutions in town, with history stretching more than 70 years.

Very old school setting, with it's rustic charms from over half a century.

Service is great and food is prepared quiet fast once order is placed. There are many signature dishes which you need to place advanced order of at least 2 days due to the complexity of preparation and cooking style (braising, marination) which just cannot be rushed.

The downside, if you have limited diners at the table, you will not be able to try out as many dishes as you would like. Even the smallest plate size is still quite a large portion.

Overall, a very satisfying dinner.

The original non-air-conditioned restaurant remains a classic, while the air-conditioned section, opened in 1971 just across the alley, offers a more modern dining experience. It’s said that the original kitchen still has old chefs preparing the dishes, adding to the nostalgic charm.

We brought our Shanghai visitors here for lunch and ordered their famous Pei Pa roast duck, fried egg crabmeat with romaine, deep-fried prawn wrapped with yam, green vegetables, steamed beef slices with pickled leek onion and ginger, steamed grass carp with ginger sauce, and tofu with pumpkin sauce.

The dishes were flavorful yet mild, perfect for those who prefer less intense seasoning. The Pei Pa roast duck, in particular, lived up to its reputation. Sek Yuen is not just about the food; it’s an experience steeped in history, nostalgia, and tradition.

Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates a walk down memory lane paired with a delicious meal!
