I'm not a fancy food guy, but everything here is incredible. For LG, the prices are super reasonable and you get real, high quality food with decent portions too. It's one of those rare restaurants where you can go casual or fancy and not be out of place. And the staff is amazing, too!

This place is pretty mediocre across the board. The prices and portions vary so wildly you'd honestly think they are chosen randomly. Also the service is SO UNBELIEVABLY SLOW that you'd be better off ordering your food for pick up, but even if you do prepare for it to be overcooked.

This places charges an absolute eye-watering $6/oyester. I have no idea who they think will pay this. This is crazy even for bay area prices.

Anyways, rant over. The anchovie bread were actually really surprisingly good. Very buttery with a hint of mustard and the anchovies add a nice saltiness. The croquettes were delectable as well.

The main courses were a mixed bag. The halibut I was told was excellent. The pork chops were cooked well, but didn't wow.

The paella was pretty mid and was told "I would give a 2/5. There was no chorizo even though the ,menu said it contained it, the shrimp was rubbery and tough (overcooked) and was way too soupy."

The duck was good as well, but they needed to remake the fish for us because it came out completely well done and had to send it back. Once it came back, I would say the duck was above average, but nothing to wow about. The duck itself didn't really taste seasoned and if you didn't eat it with the topping, it was unremarkable. The skin didn't even taste salted.

The tuna was quite phenomenal. It was cooked perfectly, the rice was good, the saucy had amazing flavor. But it was way too expensive for six slices of tuna and two scoops of rice.

The biggest disappointment was the service. The waiting times were atrocious. For a party of five it took us TWO HOURS from getting seated to paying the bill. it would have been way longer if we ordered desert. It took 30 minutes for appetizers to come out and 45 minutes for entrees, and then another 15 minutes to get a new duck dish.

I would consider coming back if the service was not so abysmally slow.

TLDR; great food, good ambiance, awesome service! ASA is what fusion food should be. The Spanish and Italian influences are noticeable, but most importantly it was executed well -- fish was fatty, flavorful and perfectly cooked; steak was a spot on medium and the accompanying fries were crispy. The suggested Syrah paired nicely as well. Desert was fresh and rich at the same time. The setting is fairly dimly lit and more on the romantic side, and the service was impeccable. I highly recommend this place for a date night or just to have a nice meal with friends/loved ones!

I'm actually quite surprised that I haven't been here in the many years since Asa has opened. I've been on their mailing list and get their weekly specials and it always looks great, but was candidly a little put off by being right next-door to the Best Western. First off the restaurant is actually really modern with a nice vibe which helps you forget the restaurant is practically connected to a hotel. I will admit when we first got there I was a little dismayed, as there was a lot of weight staff many of them just standing around and looking at us not doing anything while we waited. About three minutes at the host stand waiting for someone to greet us. Once the hostess did the service from that point on was actually really good for the whole evening it actually felt like the staff were really connected to the food and the restaurant which brought a warmer feeling to the whole evening. As for the food, we started with some croquettes which were small bites, but packed with flavor. Great way to start the meal. I had the half duck which was absolutely perfectly cooked, medium rare. The leg and thigh were perfectly crisp while the breast was so moist and tender. I think it was actually one of the best cooked ducks that I've ever had. My wife had the halibut special which surprisingly came out not super hot and the fish was unfortunately slightly overcooked and dry. Certainly a shame compared to the duck and a nice piece of fish. Also, $52. For dessert, they have quite a large set of choices covering all the bases. I had the basque cheesecake with huckleberries which was light and refreshing, especially with the berries. My wife ordered the chocolate chip cookies with vanilla ice cream, which came with four good size cookies which was great to bring home some extra. Though slightly disappointing because the cookies though served warm lacked flavor. We were wondering if maybe some salt was missing? Seems like maybe adding some sea salt on top could be a nice compliment. All in all, though, we had a great meal in a nice evening and glad to try and support a local Los Gatos restaurant.

I love that this restaurant is conveniently located right off the freeway and just outside the busy Los Gatos strip. Parking can be a little tricky on weekends, but the host let us know we could use the "hotel" designated spots, which was a lifesaver. The restaurant itself is warm and inviting, with soft lighting and a cozy atmosphere. Even though only 2 of our 6 guests had arrived, we were seated right away--a thoughtful gesture we really appreciated. By the time we settled in, every table (including the patio) was full, so I definitely recommend making a reservation if you're planning dinner on the weekend. Everything we ordered was delicious. The kind that leaves you thinking about coming back to eat it again. That's all I really can say! Ambience is warm and intimate.

Food was outstanding and reasonably priced for the quality. It's possible to carry on a conversation at the table - not too loud - even in the main dining area. A nice place for drinks and a great meal. However, our waiter was a bit clueless and inattentive. We went for a small family dinner and it took 2-1/2 hours!! Way too many long gaps between courses. Maybe they are going for European style, but my goodness, provide a warning! Again the food was excellent, but I doubt I will find the time to visit again.

A delicious dinner is found at @asarestaurants . The food was so good. The starters we got were the Garlic Shrimp and Pork Rib Bites which were both really yummy. The main dishes were the Sustainably Sourced Fish, the Hand Cut NY Steak, and the Carbonara. For dessert, we got the Chocolate Molten Lava Cake, and it was amazingly gooey and sweet. Came for dinner on a Friday night. We were seated right away with no issues. The restaurant was definitely busy which is always a good sign in my book. Parking as some have said is tricky as they share the parking lot with the Best Western Hotel. Although signs say hotel parking only, it's OK to park there. Started out with apps (truffle fries, burata and tomato soup special). All were excellent except soup which didn't have much flavor. Our waiter was nice enough to comp it which was a nice touch. Out mains were halibut x2 and the Ahi Tuna. The halibut was amazing and the tuna wasn't too far behind. Highly recommend either. Our waiter, Jose was attentive and provided great service. There had been posts about slow service, but all our dishes came out in a reasonable amount of time and hot. No issues at all. Net/net we had a really nice experience, good service and excellent food. We will definitely be back!!!

Food: amazing food and cocktails. Very well done. Service bad : The woman at the reception, who was also serving, came across as rude and dismissive during our visit. When she asked if I wanted another cocktail and I said yes, her response and attitude felt confused, disrespectful, and inappropriate -- almost as if she was speaking to me personally rather than as a customer. This behavior reflects a very poor attitude for someone working in hospitality. She should be trained on how to communicate with customers respectfully and professionally. Overall, the service was disappointing. I have been coming to this restaurant for special occasions for several years, and unfortunately, this visit felt like a decline in their usual standards. The atmosphere did not feel welcoming, and the service quality was not what I have experienced in the past.

Michelin 2021? 4.5 stars? How? I am so confused still, 5 days after our dinner there. I hate giving negative reviews, but this restaurant is a joke. (Disclaimers: 1- I am from south of France and I know quite a bit about Paella 2-I was invited but decided to eventually pay for my food so I could write a review without disrespecting my host 3- I cook much, from scratch). Table of 10. We ordered drinks, appetizers to share and various mains. Cocktails were nice (but it took 25-30 mins to get a martini...!) Let me share my friend's experience first, then mine: The 2 friends on my right returned their $24 (!) arrabiata pasta after waiting an hour for their dish. They had obviously been sitting a while in the warming over: dry, mushy, bland. Both friends told me this is "unacceptable" (and I could only concur after trying a bite). On my left, my good friend ate only 1/4 of the steak: too much seasoning and rubbery were her words. I had a bite and indeed, there was nothing I could care for. The icing on the cake was my $38 "paella". How could they even serve this? 4 non deveined shrimps on 2 very mushy, compact Spanish rice 'cakes', topped with canned olives and fresh tomatoes mixed with Spanish chorizo fat based 'sauce'. The rice cake was as mushy and as compact as a potato cake. This was terrible. Overcooked, so soggy and sticking to your mouth. Very far away from a fluffy yet saucy paella. But why non deveined shrimps (see my photos)? Each bite was like I was chewing on sand. For that price? Zero star. People are crazy about the fries...ok they were crispy, and ketchup is homemade. I think they use frozen fries (I could be wrong here). Beet salad had nothing standing out in my opinion. Parking situation is terrible. Oh and... when someone jokingly told our waiter if we could get a free birthday cake and get a happy birthday song he answered "we don't do this Here you can do this at home"... who do you think you are M. Waiter. Couldn't even take a joke. Asa is good for hipster who want to show off (some of those were at my table) and pretend they know anything about cuisine. There are way better places to eat in los gatos, places where you actually get what you pay for.

Good food and friendly service. Inside seating looked dark, but nice - kinda an upscale bar vibe. But unfortunately I chose the outside seating, which I do not recommend. I gave it three stars cause I really did not like the outdoor seating arrangement. I might have rated it high had I sat inside.
