This was my first visit to their new location. The space and ambiance here are delightful, yet I couldn’t help but reminisce about their old spot. It feels like something special was lost in the transition.
The old location, despite its size constraints, was meticulously arranged to maximize every square foot. Dining at the counter and watching the artful preparation of coffee made it a unique experience.
At the new location, the space has expanded significantly, featuring both regular dining tables and counter seating. The menu has also grown, offering a wider variety of food and drink options. Nostalgically, I chose to sit at the counter, but the experience wasn’t quite the same. We ordered two entrees and a dessert with ice cream, and all arrived simultaneously. While the service was prompt, it felt somewhat rushed. We ended up starting with dessert because of the ice cream, and by the time I got to my omelet, it was lukewarm.
I truly wished they could have preserved some of the craftsmanship from their old location, but perhaps it's inevitable when scaling a business. Efficiency seems to take precedence. Don’t get me wrong—it’s still a great spot for brunch. However, if you were fond of their old spot, be prepared for a different experience here.

I loved the atmosphere here. The decor is beautiful and the layout doesn’t feel too cramped. I’ve sat at both the bar and in the dining room during lunch/brunch - the former is my favorite so you can watch them siphon the coffee. Their house blend, batsuni, is a must try if you are a coffee lover. The hayashi omurice has been a standout favorite, but the hot cakes were also tasty. Would love to come back and try their dinner menu some time.

Honestly the worst dining experience I've had in NYC thus far. In general, the portions are very small for the price, and not really worth it--you have to get a bunch of plates to be full and they really add up. Though the mugen pasta tasted good it was a very small portion, the fried seafood platter remarkably poorly done and bland; it was also very overpriced (16 for just 4 pieces of fried food was laughable).

And don't even get me started on the desserts; the tiramisu was honestly just disgusting and the mascarpone cheese tasted like feet in addition to drying out from being stored in the fridge for too long (and 14 dollars for a tiny piece!). The creme brulee's texture was off and not how creme brulee is supposed to be. You can get good creme brulee for half the price in other restaurants.

The service was also the worst I encountered in NYC. Well after we were done eating the main courses, we waited 20 minutes just to be able to order dessert. The waiter didn't refill anyone's water (we were watching). The one we got didn't ask for allergies, didn't give us tap water without asking, but other people were given tap water without asking and asked if they had allergies by other waiters.

Also, this isn't the fault of the restaurant but it was remarkably loud, with people talking at the top of their lungs and laughing as hard as they could. It was impossible to communicate with the waiters and I ended up getting overcharged for still water (9 dollars!) because I couldn't hear that they offered tap. Really depressing experience overall.

Went during lunch hours on a Sunday and had a short 10 minute wait. Staff was nice and efficient. The place was lovely and loved the atmosphere.

Takoyaki är min absoluta favorit gata mat. Att ha gjort det själv många gånger känner mig som om jag har blivit lite expert på takoyaki - land. Otafuku gav mig en riktigt bra takoyaki-upplevelse för ett pris på $ 12 jag kunde prova en kombination av takoyaki och okonomiyaki. Detta är absolut värt det! Den enda anledningen till att det blir bara 4/5 är att jag såg hur de gjorde takoyaki från början genom fönstret som delar matsalen på platsen från köket men till sist fick jag takoyaki som redan var förberedd och hålls varm. De var fortfarande väldigt bra, men det var det som gör takoyaki perfekt för mig att få rören heta ut ur pannan. Jag behöver i princip brinna min mun! : D så fort bollarna sitter en stund, tappar de lite om den perfekta konsistensen som är lite skarp ute och mycket gooie på insidan. Men fortfarande en av de bästa platserna i staden för takoyaki! Högt rekommenderad!

Det fanns en hel del mer strimlad kål än jag trodde att det skulle vara men det var ganska bra. Maten var beredd fort och det var varmt. Vänlig personal. Om du vill ha att prova några Okonamayaki i NYC rekommenderar jag Otafuku!
