Great location and place to visit away from the touristy overcrowded Central area of Amsterdam.

Leidseplein is a vibrant area which is close to Central which also has a great selection of bars, restaurants and clubs. We went there 2/5 nights there.

Great selection of food and restaurants. Great vibe better than Amsterdam Central street. Less crowded and restaurants with good views of the canal.

Nice square with a lot of restaurants and bars. Has more to do than dam square in my opinion, and not as crowded. The square was built In 1660, and its name was taken from the gate which stood there until 1862 and was the gate from which people arrived from thet city of Leiden. Interestingly, The original reason for the construction of the square was to be a parking place for the carriages of those who arrived to the city
