Addis was a wonderful Ethiopian dining experience and some of the best food we tried in cape town! We got the mixed platter, wine and the coffee and it was all so wonderful. The food was incredibly fresh and truly so delicious. Service was excellent and our server took the time to explain everything to us - he was so genuinely happy to guide us through our first Ethiopian food experience. The atmosphere is very colorful with a multi-floor seating arrangement and open kitchen that greets you as you walk in. The coffee is heavenly, too. Highly recommend - we cannot stop talking about this place and all of the new flavors and foods we were able to try!

I recently had the pleasure of trying Ethiopian food for the first time, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The standout feature of my visit was undoubtedly the waiter, who was not only incredibly friendly but also very knowledgeable about the cuisine.   He took the time to explain the various dishes and even recommended some of his favorites, which made my first encounter with Ethiopian food all the more enjoyable. It’s clear that he truly cares about sharing this unique culinary experience with newcomers like myself. His enthusiasm for the food made it easier to dive into unfamiliar flavors and textures.

I was disappointed, mainly with the service. Despite specifically asking for non-spicy dishes, they recommended and assured me a dish wasn’t spicy only for it to be too spicy to enjoy, and didn’t try to fix it. The staff also took my drink away before I was even halfway through and still charged for it. The prawns were decent, but the lamb was tough and chewy, aside from also being too spicy. Overall, the experience was average or below average, and I wouldn’t rush back.

Authentic Ethiopian Food in Cape Town. We had the vegan platter. Loved the teff injera. The taste was great and portion more than decent for 2 people.

Only downside is that the vegan platter didn’t include our favourite dish, Shiro Wot.

The restaurant is a bit on the pricier side comparing it to other Ethiopian restaurants in Cape Town, but it’s well worth it.

Addis in Cape was simply outstanding. The service was exceptional—friendly, welcoming, and attentive. From the traditional handwashing at the start to the incredible food, every moment was an experience.

The atmosphere is warm and authentic, with beautiful Ethiopian decor and soft music. The food, served on Injera, was rich in flavors and spices, with excellent vegan options as well. A highlight was the traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony - a perfect way to end the evening.
