For me, it is clearly one of the two top restaurants in Cape Town. Perfectly served innovative food, top wine pairing, and all of this in a beautiful location with a long history. Well done! And very fairly priced. Happy to be back when again in Cape Town.

The food was outstanding, offering exquisite dishes at a remarkable value compared to fine dining in other cities worldwide. Every course was delicious, with no disappointments.
However, one friend found a hair halfway through a course. We informed the waiter, who offered to replace the dish. We declined, as it was already half-eaten, and there was no further acknowledgment or compensation.
Other than that, everything was great. The service was excellent, and the ambiance was very elegant.

The food was of a high standard and well executed. I enjoyed the evening and would repeat. I've given it 5 stars but I think it should be more of a 4.5 stars. The food was very good but a little short of excellent. Nothing stood out as truly innovative or amazing. Each dish had a number of ingredients but often they couldn't be distinguished from each other.  The wine pairing had a couple of very good wines but the rest were nothing special, and at R280 per glass (when the average retail bottle price is only R400) it was a bit overpriced. The service was very friendly and very attentive but it felt like the staff had just learned their lines off by heart without really having an understanding of and a passion for their work.

Sorry for the negative comments because I actually did enjoy the evening. I just feel that you're close to excellent and I'd like you to get there.

Very impressive preservation room with so many interesting preserved foods (fermented, dried, and more).  Loved the hand washing ceremony upon arrival.   Every bite of every dish was delectable.   We especially loved the ancient grains and cherries in the dessert.   The gluten free substitutions were outstanding- a couple were actually even better than the gluten options!  A very special meal and experience.    Be aware it’s quite an extended meal.  We wished we had made an earlier reservation to get home at a more reasonable hour.

The experience at Salsify is about so much more than food. The plated works of art and sublime taste adventures are complimented by beautiful staff team work. Several people jumped to assist a wheelchair user in our group in and out of the restaurant. And Luke demonstrated a great combination of attentiveness, charm and knowledge about the details of the dishes. @Ryan Cole, your culinary gifts to the fine dining world are in good hands here!
