Before you go ahead on reading this review, it’s important that you know two things: I don’t speak Chinese; it’s my first time in Beijing.
The atmosphere is nice, the tables are made half wood and half marble. The tea list and wine list can satisfy any kind of taste but for sure are focused on Asian production.
Unfortunately I felt very uncomfortable because of the communication problem. The nice lady serving us was the only one who could barely speak English, at the word “knife” she got lost. Since this restaurant doesn’t have a tasting menu, we end up ordering stuff that were not in harmony with each other and that didn’t fit our taste.
A star Michelin restaurant can’t be so unprepared to welcome foreign costumers. I find this unacceptable.

Very nice and reasonably priced Peking Duck. The wine list was quite good and we ordered a Chinese wine from NingXia which did not disappoint us. The duck meat was succulent and the crispy skin just melt in the mouth. The overall experience was wonderful!

Accidentally came to this restaurant without realizing it's some Michelin BS. Definitely a place that puts more focus on the design of its plates than the size of its food portions. The Peking roast duck I ordered tasted exactly the same as pretty much any other I tried during my week in Beijing, yet was probably three times as small compared to the ones in normal restaurants. Also decided to try probably the most expensive tea in my life, only to find out it tastes just like any other tea. The flashing red flag should have been obvious when entering and noticing a sea of Euro-American faces and not a single Chinese customer. Save your money and go to literally any other Peking duck restaurant.

Note that the restaurant only opens at 530pm for dinner. Items can be a little pricey but they have maintained their 1 Michelin star status for the last 5 years so it’s well worth it. One of the best Peking duck I’ve had anywhere in the world and service is also very good without being intrusive. Try their stir fried intestines with garlic. Really good too. Would definitely visit again.

Incredible dining experience here.

The roasted duck was otherworldly. The skin was fatty, crispy, and perfectly done. The duck meat itself was tender and juicy. I only wish they had cut more meat off of the duck for us to enjoy. I think the addition of garlic paste along with the rest of the duck accompaniments was a great idea and really added to the overall flavor.

Apart from the duck, their tofu was really good. I enjoyed the kiwi juice, and the grilled lamb was also quite spectacular. The staff offered great service and I feel lucky to have gotten this experience.
