Absolutely great place to visit the Great Wall. Nice walk. The journey is less than 100km from Beijing city.

Private car transfers or buses are easily arranged. If you are in Beijing and would like to see the Great Wall, this would be a highly recommended place for nice sceneries and pictures.

Absolutely the best place to visit if you want to see and experience the Great wall.This section is much less busier and more cleaner.Once you reach by taxi or Didi from Beijing you need to take a shuttle bus to the base where you can buy the tickets which will include your travel to go upto wall via chairlift (eastside) and come back down using Tobbogan.West side of base can only go up and down by Gondola type lift carriage.The wall is nicely maintained and is worth the visit.

Went the lazy way with a chair lift easy to get on and off views from the top amazing. There are steps from the top of the chair lift which are steep and uneven but not too many. The cable car option had more steps at both the bottom and top but goes much higher.

I took a bus from Beijing to Mutianyu. Very beautiful part of the Great Wall, considerably less crowded than Badaling, and easier to hike compared to Simatai.

If you want to take the chair lift and toboggan/slide, go to the EAST SIDE.

If you want to take cable car & hike a longer portion of the Great Wall with nicer views, go WEST SIDE
