We tried their degustation menu. The food was French-Japanese fusion. With a high expectation given Mauro’s reputation globally, it really didn’t hit the mark as the flavours and the flow of the menu didn’t feel balanced (eg. The mushroom consommé was a bit overpowering and salty, the beef was not tender, or didn’t have that melt in your mouth taste). The waiters did come over several times to ask what we thought of the food as the menu was new. The sommelier was a bit behind the eight ball to pour drinks for a wine pairing meal.

Overall, for the price you pay it’s not really worth it (and you automatically have a high expectation).

NB. they were renovating the downstairs section when we went (apparently opening an Izakaya restaurant).

Delicious with lots of seafood in the menu, making it feel light and healthy (although I am sure a lot of butter was used). I enjoyed it all, especially the beautiful dry aged kinmedai with bouillabaise sauce.

If you like very loud music during your lunch then this definitely is the place for you.

We’ve ordered three dishes and two were definitely taught and instructed well enough to serve to the customer. They looked awesome.

We had the seafood risotto and it was lacking some lemon/zesty finish. Same with the lamb confit. Very nicely done but it was a bit bland. Again this is somewhat personal I guess, so up for debate.

Another dish that I ordered was roasted bone marrow. Sadly it was roasted for too long and all the marrow dissolved. Or it was eaten by a bandit midway to the table. Either way there was absolutely no marrow served to me, only the bone. All the cooks and servers did not notice this and served me this empty bone. How well is your staff instructed to know that there is nothing to eat? Like ordering a steak and there is no steak? Perhaps it was a prank but they haven’t told me yet.

I think it’s useless to send it back if all your staff don’t even notice the missing crux in this platter.

The accompanying toast with this dish was awesome though, extra star for you.

Pictures I took seem to be deceiving as it was all hard bone and no marrow. Wonder what Mauro will say if he knew, probably just shrugs. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Service was absolutely amazing!
And they have nice drinks!

The restaurant by Michelin 3 star chef is decorated in marine theme. The lunch set 3 course cost around hkd 688 before 10% service charge comes with some complimentary appetisers and dessert bites. Freshly baked bread even had a poem by chile poet with homemade olive oil. The fish is very yummy but the green dessert is so so.
