This is one of the better places for a more classic style of sushi, keeping it simplistic without getting into crazy prices. In fact, it's tremendous value given that I do 10 nigiri and extra nigiri and tea for under 9600 in this day and age in Ginza. This chef doesn't chase publicity, keeps the place deliberately on the down low, in a back street without trying to cater for tourists or even online bookings, which keeps his loyal customers coming back. Personally, having been to much more expensive sushiya around the area, this is one of very few that I would apply the word value to while insisting that the quality is up there with many of the best, such that it is one of my favourites since I discovered it 7 years ago. They don't hire English speakers and will do the bare minimum to ensure service runs smoothly but in fact the sushi chef owner knows a wee bit of English to have a passable conversation but he doesn't let attempting to exercise that English distract him from the main service. To book as a foreigner I wandered in on a Friday and made a booking for the Tuesday lunch, everything is written down, pen and paper. I think you can call but that would've tested my japanese I bit too much. They will likely offer towards the end of the main sitting in case there are translation difficulties, this is not because they are unfriendly, they have always tried to slot me in when I turn up, but because when they are at their busiest the chef is at different parts of an omakase for different guests (none of this new all-at-once service you'll get from the high end sushiyas which only makes it annoying for faster eaters). They used to serve different courses depending on your reactions to the sushi but they seem to start with a fixed set and let you order whatever after, for example, there was no nodoguro in the course but I tapped a piece on at the end. Photos are allowed, they didn't hesitate to say yes when I asked but likely because I asked respectfully up front.

Not on any lists and that’s a good thing. I’m always the only foreigner eating here and the chef is great, jus don’t take pictures of other peoples food! Excellent value for a place in Ginza.

The worst Japanese restaurant I’ve never met!

This is the only 1 star review for a Japanese restaurant. Congrats! Some diners say this rest is not easy to find. Then you may just ignore it. Don’t waste time to search for this place if you don’t wanna get upset!

Wasabi was too much for 1 sushi. But this is not the point. The most important thing is This Chef neither respect ladies Nor foreigners! I have no comments with the way they made the sushi since it’s part of the food culture. But the way Chef threw the sushi on the plate was very rude although this is his micro expressions!

We were the first diners and we have chosen our seats after taking off winter clothes. However, this Chef insisted on letting us change the seat to the side to leave the better seat for a local man who came after us! How rediculous! If you think woman should give priority to man is part of your culture, then please do it in your home. As civilised modern people, we don’t have such discrimination!

The Chef told us cannot take photos at the beginning, however, another late comer girls took photos for each dish without any complaint! It seems this Chef discriminates not only ladies but also foreigners!

They are well known as polite nation. However, in this rest I never see such virtue in the Chef. (Btw, the waitress is really polite and helpful.) Some people are polite in terms of helping others, some are polite in terms of showing thanks, while some are polite in terms of pretending to be polite.

Eg, In SG, the restaurant owners will say thank you after diners pay the bill, while in JP rest owners will send diners to the door. This might be a good way to show thanks but not necessary. In SG, we normally press the open button in a life for the rest people walking in and out safely. This is polite but also necessary However, in JP, they seldom do so.

In JP, there is no lady first culture! When we give way to a Japanese man, he will just take it for granted. While the lady walks behind showed thanks to us. And such traditions have been described fully in this Chef’s behaviour!

This is the worst Japanese restaurant I’ve never met so far! Don’t visit here if you don’t wanna have a bad experience ladies and foreigners !

I had a Lunch course for my friend’s birthday. Price was acceptable for the quality.  U need to make a book through the hotel otherwise there’s no room. Allowed take a pic only ur sushi! It was 10,800yen for two which is not too pricy.

A cozy restaurant, great for a sushi lunch. Don’t really know what I ordered as I don’t speak or write Japanese, but something along the lines of a lunch special. I enjoyed trying the different options— some I loved, some I didn’t care for but had a great time. The soup was also quite nice, it even had little clams in it (little clams not pictured)
