The Tokyo Photographic Art Museum is awesome. I came here for the old Tokyo photography exhibit - A Traveler from 1200 Months in the Past. Admission was 700 yen. There were other exhibits and each one has their own admission cost. Video is not allowed and certain photos are not allowed to be photographed. It was great to see how Tokyo changed from patches of dirt to the way it is now.

Really wonderful museum. Staff members were all very polite, kind, and helpful. I saw a great exhibit on emerging Japanese photographers and another on Alec Soth. TOP has a very nice layout, definitely on the smaller size, so don’t expect to spend more than 90 minutes here, unless you really like to take your time with work. Definitely would love to come back next time I’m in Tokyo.

A good photographic art museum in Ebisu. It exhibits many great photo arts here. And there are some funny exhibitions.

Unfortunately closed. 3 museums we visited on one day were all closed without notice. This week was not a public holiday in Tokyo. Two other group's arrived at the same time (Japanese domestic tourists) and were also confused why this place is closed today. For future travellers, phone To confirm a place is open before travelling. In the last 2 weeks of travel in Japan this has happened many times which is not normal to occur this often.

Great museum. Not crowded. The exhibitions were interesting and the gift shop has an amazing selection of photography books.
