This was my third omakase experience and the most expensive one. I would say the food is definitely top-notch if you want to guarantee a full out omakase experience with the premium fish. However, the hospitality of the chef was a bit unexpectedly lacking. I understand you go to a dining experience for the food and not everyone speaks english. But during our dining experience, the chef was conversing with a Japanese couple next to us the entire time. Nothing wrong with that just the rest of the foreign costumers got english name of the fish and even then the chef sometimes forgot to say it. I guess this review just to let anyone who’s thinking about it to know what you might get may it be a big deal for you or not. I think I just expected more for an omakase restaurant at this price point that’s obviously targeted towards foreigners. I would say it was a good experience but not something I would come back for.

I love the small dishes more than sushi to be honest.

The baby sea eel, baby squid, crab soup,etc. the half cooked toro with egg yolk are such amazing.

I think sushi is alright that the sushi rice are not really connect with the fish, getting lost in my month. and potion bit larger that I always left bit in my month of them.

Sushi Mashashi was my first ever omakase experience. I loved the food that was provided by chef. Him and his crew are truly experts in their craft. I would say that I have no complaints with the food. One complaint I do have was that the head chef did not really interact with anyone else except one Japanese couple during our whole experience. The table was all foreigners except for that one couple. I felt like I was third wheeling at someone else's omakase because of that. The service from the other staff members was amazing overall with great attention to detail to food preparation and comfort. I was satisfied with my meal nonetheless but the lack of communication during left sort of a blemish on what could have been a perfect experience. Although this is my first omakase experience, I believe it is paramount for the head chef to walk us through thoroughly on what we are eating and why the choices were made to include it in our dinner. There were moments during the meal where one or two dishes were not identified directly to me and my partner because the head chef was talking to the other couple. I still believe this restaurant is worth a try but I cannot give it a hard recommendation because of my experience. It may have been an off day for Mr. Mashashi but it is still worth noting for others.
