While M/W HOTEL does not feature an on-site restaurant, its location in Yotsuya provides easy access to a variety of dining options. For those of you who plan on bringing lots of luggage, this hotel is not very accommodating/luggage friendly. We rented the 5th floor for 6 people and overall, it was a very frustrating experience.

To start off, there is no physical person at the location for the help desk, it is mainly self-service. You have to skype call someone to get customer service. This also means that there is no direct way to transfer luggage to this hotel. The nearest place you can send to is a Yamato courier about 7 minutes away. Also, the elevator only goes up to the 3rd floor. If you check in late, you would need to haul up your luggage quietly because if anyone makes a noise complaint, you would get fined.

For the room itself, it was alright. It was generally clean but behind the headboards, there was some trash. We had 2 double beds and 2 mattresses for 6 people. Also, we were unable to find any blankets for the people sleeping on the mattresses, and no point going to the help desk. We stayed for 5 nights and had no idea how to take out the trash. There was a laundry machine so clean towels wasn't necessarily a big deal.

For the bathroom, it was also generally clean but there was a rust stain by the mini heater. Also, you need to shower a specific way or else you will flood the bathroom. We learned that the hard way.

Lastly, the location. Surprisingly, it was located in a convenient spot. 7 minutes away from a train station and a konbini nearby.  Once you get there and get situated, it's not bad to travel around. However, if this is your final hotel before flying out, do be prepared to figure out how to send your luggage to the airport. Yamato courier requires 2 days notice if you plan on using them. The help desk was unhelpful in providing any alternative solutions to our luggage problem as we missed the 2 day notice. We ended up calling a taxi (gotaxi app) and sending one person with half our luggage ($160) and hand hauling the rest to the airport.

We rented the 4F room and enjoyed the 2 bedrooms with sliding doors, small living room with dining table and TV, and separate room by windows with small table and 2 chairs. It made the room feel bigger than it is. A few items to be aware  of is that the elevator only goes to the 3rd floor so you need to walk up a tight flight of stairs to get to the 4th floor. Seems there is a water pump on this floor, so when using water you will hear a pump kick in with some noise but not a deal breaker for us. Loved the neighborhood restaurants and 7 min walk to the subway. Would stay here again.

Don’t bother booking this property.  I don’t usually leave bad reviews but I felt compelled to do so.

1. Check out time is 10am, we did not read the fine print but apparently it’s in the policy. We asked the owner if it’s ok to check out at 11am, was rejected straight away without given a chance to explain.

2. Bad leakage in the toilet. A signage was pasted in the shower room for us to shower a certain way, but the leakage was so bad the whole toilet was wet. The water that leaked out took really long to drain as well. Felt really uncomfortable because it was dirty and to top it off the toilet papers were on the wet toilet floor.

3. Room is said to accommodate up to 6 people. We only have 3 adults and 1 toddler. We used the additional bed but there is only 2 blankets, so 1 of us ended up sleeping without blanket. Plus, the mattress has a terrible stain.

4. Owner texted us a long message to ask us to “put things back in order”, and mentioned if it’s not in the original state, they will charge us. We were also asked to sort out the rubbish before check out, else they will charge as well. These should be in their policies/ should be called out in the booking sites before guests decide whether to book, not after we have checked in the property.

All in all the stay was unpleasant, it was noisy at the ground floor and I would spend my money elsewhere given the cleanliness and hospitality is unsatisfactory.

I used this hotel for sightseeing and it was a very quiet area even though it was walking distance to Shinjuku.
The room was very stylish and super clean. In addition, the beds ware so comfortable.
It was above and beyond my expectations. I will definitely stay here again when I come back to Tokyo.
