Lots of yakitori and other street food. Easy to sit down and eat with beer. Very cool spot to start here and I and get some food I need before our drinks. Lots of cool places to look at. Not all of them enjoy having their photo taken unless you buy things. This area during the day or a lot less active. It's better to go at night when it's much more lively, unless you're not really into that sort of thing.

The best advice I can give you here is to look inside the small restaurants and find one with foreigners. Unfortunately, some of them only serve locals. This is a really cool place, just a short walk from the subway station. It's full of life and has a great atmosphere. You can come alone and start a conversation with someone while enjoying your food and drinks. I think this is an unusual plan, but it's really enjoyable for solo travelers, friends, or couples.

Located close to Shinjuku station, this is a must-see attraction for Tokyo tourists.
Once here, you can find several bars and small restaurants and you can breath the traditional Japanese vibes, with red lanterns, small restaurants and bars as well as local people that usually get their meals here after a long work day. Please note that many bars here do not accept credit cards so please make sure to have some cash with you before coming here.

Omoide Yokocho which is also known as "piss alley" is a cool picturesque or how they say these days "Instagrammable," alleyway with many small restaurants and bars throughout the path. The smells are a bit heavy since most of the restaurants are yakitori style, but the aesthetic is very beautiful. I would recommend coming by on your visit to Tokyo just to walk through it and if anything grabs your attention food-wise, try it out! It is a bit of a tourist trap so expect higher prices than regular restaurants and don't go with many people because they are VERY small.
