Nestled in the heart of Gamcheon Village, this Gomtang restaurant proved to be a delightful discovery on a chilly winter afternoon. Despite the late lunch hour, the place was bustling with locals, always a good sign! The cozy and inviting atmosphere, enhanced by the friendly chefs, instantly made us feel at home.

We were blown away by the oxtail soup. The broth was incredibly rich and flavorful, a true comfort food on a cold day.  The tender beef and melt-in-your-mouth tendons were cooked to perfection.  Living up to the hype, the galbi dumplings were sensational, boasting a thick, savory filling that burst with flavor. We also couldn't resist trying the chicken wings, and they were a revelation – perfectly tender and moist with just the right amount of spice.

This Gomtang restaurant is a hidden gem in Gamcheon Village. With its delicious food, warm ambiance, and welcoming hosts, it's the perfect spot to refuel and recharge while exploring this charming neighborhood.

This Korean BBQ restaurant, consistently awarded by Michelin, is highly recommended for its grilled pork dishes. It’s best to register early as you can dine during the first lunch round. The staff grills the meat for you, which is convenient, but they seem busy juggling meal prep and drink orders. The pork jowl and pork belly are of exceptional quality, rivaling beef in flavor. The kimchi soup is delicious, but be careful—the iron bowl gets extremely hot!

English name, Gold Pig.

Extremely popular and you MUST come early to get a number as they don't accept reservations. With a number, you can get updates via catch table app so you don't need to stay at the restaurant. Lucky as the queue can be almost 3hrs.

Specializing in thick cut Jeju samgyeopsal, the staff grill it for you and then cut into bite size pieces when ready.

I normally prefer a soondubu but they offer kimchi jigae here and I highly recommend it. Normally this jigae has thin slices of pork belly but this version has fatty morsels of pork belly that have slow cooked and literally melt in your mouth.

We also added a portion of pork skin. For people expecting a crunchy crackling experience, forget it. This is more of a chewy, gelatinous texture.

IMO, does this place warrant a Michelin rating and the long queues? Barely. It's definitely a great meal but it's not the best samgyeopsal I've ever had and the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. As our server was cutting the pork, it slipped out of his tongs and fell into a bowl of soup and splattered on our friend.

BTW, be careful of the splattering grease from the grill.

A bit of a queue since 1. Michelin title 2. Celebrities went here 3. known for their thick cut of meat. There’s a machine in front so use that to put your name down on the waitlist and wait for your number be called.

It is expensive but they do use good quality of meat. Though get ready for how extremely smoky and hot it’ll get, obviously because of the grilling. You kinda just want to hurry up and eat then bolt out because it’s almost suffocating. No complaints with Service, our poor waitress looked exhausted though 힘내요 언니! ㅠㅠ

But I do feel like you could get a bang for the buck and with better vibes elsewhere.

Longest wait of my life but it was worth it, wow it was delicious! I came alone and the portion size for one person was well worth it. The stew was especially good and I think I'll have to start adding basil to my BBQ now. Service was super attentive and does the cooking.
