I had high hopes for Fauna, especially after traveling all the way from Australia with my girlfriends. Our initial experience was promising; the waitress was attentive and helpful, and we enjoyed the two salads we ordered—they were fresh and flavourful.

However, the pasta dishes were a significant letdown. We expected al dente perfection, all the pastas were undercooked but the porcini mushroom pasta was particularly undercooked and unappetizing. Despite being small portions, none of us could finish it.

What truly marred our experience was the owner's complete disregard for us. He engaged warmly with the other tables, while we felt invisible, not even receiving a nod or acknowledgment. This was particularly disheartening given the restaurant's otherwise cosy atmosphere and the fact that there were only two other occupied tables.
It left us feeling uncomfortable and questioning the warmth and inclusivity of the establishment. The only thing we could attribute this to, was our hijabs??

I’m puzzled by the overwhelmingly positive reviews, as my dining experiences in Australia and Italy have far surpassed what we encountered here. Additionally, considering the high prices, I expected a much better experience overall. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Fauna based on this visit.

Fauna is a casual down to earth Italian restaurant that is open only for lunch. The pastas are made fresh daily using only organic ingredients. No artificial flavourings. Italian and Turkish cuisine come together in rich, shareable dishes. Think ravioli with a Karayaka lamb and walnut filling. This may not suit the taste of those who are more used to Americanised Italian cuisine but is loved by true foodies.

Simply amazing! it's been there for a long tome and since day one the food, the prep, the quality is top notch. They only serve food during lunch time and a reservation is recommended. The lamb ragu pasta is my favorite.
