I had a pleasant stay at Hotel Woolstore 1888 and would like to highlight some of the wonderful aspects of this property. The service was absolutely outstanding—every staff member I encountered was exceptionally friendly and helpful, making me feel truly welcome. Their hospitality added a lot to my overall experience. That said, there were a few areas that could use improvement. The air conditioning control in my room was not functioning properly, and I had to rely on staff assistance every time I wanted to turn it on or off. While the staff were prompt and accommodating in handling this, it is not something I expect from a hotel, and it did affect my convenience. As for the food, I would rate it above average, but there is certainly room for improvement to elevate it to the level of excellence. Overall, my stay was enjoyable, thanks to the fantastic staff and service. With a few adjustments, such as addressing the air conditioning issues and refining the dining experience, this hotel could become an even better choice for travellers.

The air conditioning in my room did not work properly, making it nearly impossible to sleep. The room was unbearably hot, to the point where the bed sheets had to be changed daily because it felt like sleeping in a sauna.

The food was overpriced, with disappointingly small portions. Additionally, the breakfast options were strictly vegetarian, and if you wanted any meat, you had to pay extra – something that felt unreasonable given the already high prices. The coffee was also terrible, which didn’t help start the day on a good note.

The cleanliness of the restaurant was another major issue. While the mountains of wax may have been intended as an aesthetic choice, they unfortunately highlighted the layers of dirt and old food trapped within them. It was off-putting and made dining there an unpleasant experience.

That said, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, which was one of the few positives of my stay. However, the overall service was inconsistent, making it difficult to overlook the many shortcomings of this hotel.

Would I stay here again? Definitely not.

Breakfast was terrible.  Watery slop & Extra charge for bacon?  Just need to add a standard bacon and eggs on toast would have been better idea.
Beds were old as both people would slide in middle of bed ontop of each other.  Rooms were tiny. No room beside bed.
Air conditioner wouldn’t turn off so it was freezing the whole night. The thermostats didn’t work either.
The staff at the front counter were amazing though which saved the experience for us.  The cafe staff need to be retrained though as she very rude.

We enjoyed a three night stay as a couple in The Shearer’s Suite- spacious, light and very comfortable. As an Accor Diamond member really appreciated the phone call before our arrival to check any specific requests and the subsequent earlier access to our room. Check in and out was seamless, breakfast menu simple and well executed ( nothing beats the perfect poached egg!) and all staff with whom we interacted were friendly and professional in their manner. Tucked in behind The Novotel meant easy access to varied bars/ restaurant as well as in house tapas at Percy’s. We look forward to another visit in future.

Lovely experience here. Intimate vibes, very friendly service and a dangerously good bar downstairs. Was pleasantly upgraded to a loft room which was very comfortable, although walking up and down a staircase in a small room did get a little tiring. I'll definitely stay here next time I'm in town. The location is perfect. Only things holding it back from five stars is the lack of smart TV's in the room. For a hotel on this level the TV's should have more connectivity, plus a Bluetooth speaker or something like that in the room would be nice. Air con in the room was hard to control and developed a very minor leak halfway through the stay. Was offered a room change but it wasn't necessary. So some of the amenities are starting to show some age.
All minor nitpicks though. Love the place. I'll be back.

My favorite boutique hotel near the CBD. The rooms are small, but perfect for business travelers. The bed was super comfortable and it was very quiet since we are on a side street. 15 minute walk to the CBD and lots of great restaurants nearby. We will definitely be back.

This hotel is simply perfect. Location:: Perfect! The hotel is easy to get to from the airport using public transportation. Just buy an Opal card and take the train to Central Station. Ask someone to point you in the direction of the light rail. Take the light rail to the Convention Center stop. Once there walk into the adjacent parking garage. Take the elevator to the fourth floor as if you're going to Novotel. Walk through the parking garage until you hit Murray St. and the hotel will be across the street from you. After you've checked in you can go back through the fourth floor of the parking garage to the walking bridge that will take you to the harbour and shops. You can walk all over town from this central location... across the Pyrmont Bridge, over to Chinatown, a relatively short walk to Circular Quay... it's really a great location. Swag and free stuff: Amazing! When you book on their website you get free happy hour at their bar, everything in the mini bar is free, free breakfast, free loot bag of snacks, free tote bag to swing around town or load up a few extra gifts for home. Lots of goodies! Attention to detail: Never better! From the spare toilet paper that reads "who gives a crap" to the frame hanging in the lobby for people to take selfies with, this place is fun and interesting. I found myself wanting to explore the hotel as much as I wanted to explore Sydney. Food: Nice spread! They had a really nice continental breakfast spread in the morning... lots of fruits, breads and pastries, cereal, hard boiled eggs, a variety of juices, and a coffee machine. I think there would be something there for everyone but if that didn't suit your fancy you could also pay for other breakfast options from the kitchen or coffee bar. Literally the only downside I came across was that the walls were thin so I could hear a lot of noises from the hallway and laundry room. So pack some ear plugs!

Charming and contemporary boutique hotel. Excellent renovation of an 1880's wool auction house. Amenities appeared at every turn, including a yoga mat upon request. Food and cocktails were stellar. Book directly for free continental breakfast and happy hour. We ordered a la carte and enjoyed the avocado smash and the pancakes with fairy floss. Both delicious. It is the energetic, intelligent, and friendly staff that put the Ovolo over the top. Every person was down to earth and on top of things. Can't say enough on this point. Great people that take service seriously. Only downside is that rooms are small. The space is so well designed that this is not an issue. Mini bar with wine, beer, water and soft drinks is refilled daily and complimentary! Love this place!

Beautiful boutique hotel with amazing staff, rooms, service. Centrally located, CBD just a couple of minute walk away, so close to everything. Hotel itself is very cool! The people who worked there were so helpful, always available and accommodating. I searched and searched for the right hotel for our Sydney stay, finally chose this one and after staying there can say it was definitely the right choice! It was an excellent stay.

Wow! This hotel is brilliant! Wonderfully welcoming staff, quirky rooms with some stand out features, complimentary snacks and drinks and a nice little happy hour with free drinks and snacks! A lot of thought went in to making this a stand out destination! Walking distance to Darling Harbour and not that further to shopping, shopping, shopping in the city.. Can't say enough AWESOME things about this great little hotel.

Very nice and unique boutique hotel close to all venues in Sydney. Lofts are not for everybody but were fine for us. Loved the happy hour and breakfast. Staff was great especially the breakfast crew.

BEST.HOTEL.EVER. My husband and I stayed here for a few days and couldn't believe all the extra special 'touches' they added. They have a shower room for guests if your room isn't ready yet- this was legendary for us as we had been traveling 48 hours to get there-made all the difference in the world. Loved the self-laundry, HH and breakfast at Mr. Percy's, and even the candy they had out when you just needed a sweet. Can't say enough good things about the staff too! Even though we're from the states I would consider Sydney more often just to stay in this cool hotel!

Loved every bit of this place. Book through the website for free breakfast and happy hour. Breakfast was a good selection of pastries, juices, cheese and meats. Happy hour had two draft beers, house cocktails, and several wines along with some chips and dips. Free laundry including detergent. Mini bar was included with two beers, two wines and a couple sodas along with a snack bag. We had a king room that was plenty big enough. Location was convenient for darling harbor and the cbd/ rocks area.

Such a great hotel with the friendliest staff. This hotel is definitely leading the way for modern hotels with its love of complimentary things. I will be coming back to stay in this chain of hotels every chance I get. Thank you for being amazing Ovolo.
