Lunch here after a tour of The Rocks was great. Cold beer, hot chips. The chicken parm was great, the salad a bit lacking. The fried calamari was also a bit small and in a weird shape. Overall we had a good meal, and sitting outside was lovely. It’s a good touristy spot to get lunch and it’s not that overpriced.

Fortune of War was great!  My burger was delicious.  The staff were nice.  There was indoor and outdoor seating.  It was interesting to read the history about how it’s Sydney’s oldest pub.  Definitely worth going to!  Have a great day!❤️😃🍻

Have eaten upstairs at the regular Fortune of War before but today a group of 3 dined next door at the 'Lockup' outside on the covered balcony. We were enjoying a drink and people watching but were constantly bothered by staff asking if we were going to order food. We hadn't been there for long and intended on having lunch but felt rushed into ordering food before we were ready. We asked if there was another booking for the table and the reply was no.

Kitchen was busy pumping out meals for this venue and the one next door so we waited about 30min to be served which was fine.

Chicken parmy ($29) was huge. Nice crumbed double chicken breast but the sugo was lacking in flavour. Chips were battered and very nice. Side salad nothing exciting and no dressing.

Cheeseburger with fries ($23) was good value and well received. Salmon ($36) was a large protein portion and also liked.

We moved on to another venue after finishing eating as we felt we weren't that welcome here to sit and talk and enjoy another wine. Maybe the staff need to chill out a bit more?

The individual rooms inside were intimate private spaces / former cells. Cool vibe.

This was our first time visiting the pub and we ended up going twice over the weekend while we had friends here from Brisbane. Most of our food was amazing, big servings and delicious. The burgers, steak sandwich and chicken parm are stand outs. Don’t bother ordering a salad, I paid $23 for a salad which was tiny and basically just greens. Get the vegetarian burger instead, it’s delicious. The fries are so good! The staff are attentive but not friendly. The indoor seating has a dull atmosphere but sitting outside is great and lively.

Popular spot. Considering how busy they were, food and drinks were served in a timely manner. Food was good and generous. Friendly service. We had dinner at the Lock up restaurant, would be nice to have some sort of lighting when eating, it was quite dark in the outdoor dining section.

Vi anlände runt 9 : 30 pm och bad om ett bord utanför. Den unge mannen visade oss till ett bord och gav oss en meny. Han sa att vi kunde beställa drinkar med QR-koden på bordet. Okej, så vi beställer ett par drinkar, och de kommer ganska snabbt. Vi frågar servern om vi kan beställa mat från honom. "Åh, köket är stängt", säger han. Om den första personen som gav oss menyn hade sagt det, skulle vi ha gått någon annanstans. SMH

Tog över 45 minuter att få några nachos som när de kom köttet var kallt - de kan ha försökt att värma upp det snabbt när vi klagade på väntan - vilket var synd eftersom det kunde ha varit en bra maträtt. Ordning vid bordet app fungerade inte för oss som utländska turister. Personalen inte alltför brytt sig. Så vad som kunde ha varit ett trevligt stopp blev en besvikelse men de är förmodligen så upptagen att de inte bryr sig.

Jag måste säga Servicen var fruktansvärd, de berättade för oss när vi kom in det kan ta 1 / 2 timme för vår mat att komma ut som de var upptagna. Vi var ok med det och satte oss. Efter över 10 minuters sittande där utan att någon tog emot vår beställning gick jag äntligen in och beställde i baren. Under dessa 10 minuter av ingen stannar vid vårt bord cirklade 2 anställda damer runt borden och gjorde absolut ingenting annat än att chatta. Den som sa att det skulle gå snabbare att gå till baren och beställa, varför ha table Service då. När maten kom bad vi om sidotallrikar från 1 av damerna som inte gjorde något annat än att prata med den andra personalen. Till slut reste jag mig och gick in i restaurangen för att hämta tallrikarna själv. Andra bord runt omkring oss klagade också på dålig Service. Det tar 1/2 timme att få din mat eftersom det tar evigheter att ens göra din beställning. Jag antar att du rider ryktet om den äldsta puben i Sydney istället för den bästa puben i Sydney. Cheferna måste hålla ett öga på personalen på uteplatsen. Jag har aldrig skrivit en dålig recension, men kunde inte låta denna passera. Tänk två gånger om att gå till denna pub, massor av ställen att gå med snabb Service.

En av Sydneys äldsta pubar är vackert restaurerad och respekterad - och har den fantastiska atmosfären av en kompis plats! Tror livemusiken hjälper till med det - och det blir det som lockar in dig på lite skoj. Med mycket vänlig personal, omfattande bar och bra matalternativ, det är en enkel passform. Livemusik är varje kväll - onskvällen har en begåvad, älskvärd charmig pojke som har spelat här i 30 år - och engagerad med all publik, ung som gammal. Levande musik slutar klockan 22 så bra att titta förbi för en sängfösare ... eller på väg ut.

Denna plats är välkänd som den äldsta puben i Sydney. Beläget mitt i hjärtat av The Rocks område. En kort promenad från Circular Quay. Även om det nästan alltid är fullt upp på helgerna, kan du oftast få en promenad - i för lunch eller vad som helst om du inte har något emot att vänta lite. Det är värt ett besök. Guinness är på kran, maten är ganska bra, personalen är vänlig och det är bara en trevlig plats att sitta inomhus eller utomhus och folk tittar på.

Fyra av oss gick till Rocks (i Sydney) för lunch på en söndag. Vi är inte turister, vi är oftast inte dumma, och vi föredrar oftast någonstans med lite mindre "atmosfär", men ändå, i en hisnande uppvisning av dåligt omdöme, gick vi till Klipporna. Naturligtvis var IT packat. Bortsett från de vanliga marknaderna och stånden var det Bastiljens dag-tema överallt med smält ost och champagne som flödade. Många människor njöt av feststämningen, men jag var inte en av dem. Jag hatar överfulla turistfällor världen över, men jag var ämnad att äta lunch klockan ett. Vi anlände till Fortune of War Hotel (enligt uppgift Australiens äldsta pub) mitt i en hektisk söndag lunchtid. Vi hade en bokning och de satt oss på baksidan. Lyckligtvis med lite uppmaning de gav oss ett bord för fyra precis vid fönstret. Den oändliga strömmen av människor som gick förbi var utmärkt underhållning. Hittills så bra. Jag ska inte tråka ut dig med andra trivialiteter, så jag ska bara rapportera fakta om maten. Två medlemmar i vårt parti beställde dagens rost, som var stekt lamm, och det fanns ett antal problem: 1 . När vi bad om mintsås eller mintgelé för att följa lammet fick vi veta att ingen av dem fanns. Det här är en landmärkespub i Klipporna som är stolt över sina stekar IT. En sådan pub bör säkert vara utrustad med alla tänkbara kryddor som kan komplettera stekt kött. Hej, husvärd, få din röv ner till närmaste ullisar och få en massa kryddor inklusive mintsås och gelé. 2 . En medlem av vårt parti bad specifikt NO pumpa. Denna något excentriska medlem av vårt parti är en hängiven rostkännare, men har av någon anledning en stark motvilja mot pumpa. Vår rubbade vän, låt oss kalla honom Mr A, tror att om du ber om NO pumpa det extra utrymmet kommer att fyllas med extra kött. Hur som helst, ni gissade IT, hans tallrik kom med en hög mosad (inte rostad) pumpa! Det är faktiskt allt jag kan gnälla om. Jag åt en Caesarsallad som var ganska god, och burarna från min partners rostade var jättegoda. Det är nog första och sista gången jag åker till Rocks för en söndagslunch, men jag är säker på att jag kommer att göra massor av andra lika dumma saker innan jag är klar.

Vi åt här en torsdag eftermiddag och IT var inte trångt. Personalen i baren var mycket vänlig och uppmärksam. Vi beställde bangers och mos och en hamburgare - all mat var god. Guineas var en bonus. Barområdet var trevligt och rent med några TV-apparater.

Var ett tag sedan jag senast gjorde en pub crawl genom Klipporna och definitivt den första, jag har gjort med frugan! Men vi hade en fantastisk eftermiddag med att göra lite museer, sightseeing och stanna för minst en drink på olika anläggningar. Krigslyckan gör anspråk på titeln Sydneys äldsta pub (1828) och sätter fortfarande mål och utökar hennes fotavtryck! Bistron tar upp de 2 intill shopfronts plus det nya boutiquehotellet Russell och den stora uteserveringen utanför. Riktigt vänlig personal och en trevlig kall Guinness gör för ett lyckligt liv & fru! Hon har redan frågat när vi ska återbesöka!

Vi hade 4 måltid, en härlig sallad och biffar. Kött och chips var mycket valuta för pengarna. Men jag åt en pepparsås med min, vilket var hemskt. Jag har svårt att tro att någon smakade det innan de skickade ut. Men en gång skrapade bort biffen var mycket bra värde och alla andra gillade verkligen maten. Jag skulle inte varna dig från stället bara pepparsåsen

Vänlig pub med uteservering. Vi var där söndag eftermiddag och de hade en musiker som spelade utanför. Maten var typisk pub grub som vi beställde via en QR-kod. Den nedslående aspekten för mig var att toaletterna var på övervåningen, inklusive den handikappade! Jag lyckades gå uppför trappan med assistans men andra kanske inte gör det.

Vänlig uteservering plats, trångt tidigt på kvällen. Allt du beställer är förbetalt, QR-koden fungerar inte alltid, innebär att du går in i baren och lägger din beställning och betalar. Vi beställde räkor som förrätt och tog ett par öl... några resor inne i baren. Platsen är avkopplande, är en mjuk levande musik inuti. De påstår sig vara Sydneys äldsta pub.

Detta är den äldsta puben i Sydney, åtminstone är det vad det står på skylten! Det är en stor typisk australisk pub, full av karaktär och karaktärer. Ett stort utbud av öl och mat om du är hungrig. Mycket upptagen och mycket populär.

Det finns ett stort utbud av lager, pale ale och stouts. Hippy älskade sin "Lashes" lager. Du kan ta en plats i baren och titta på personalen som arbetar hårt eller så kan du ta ett bord utanför och titta på världen gå förbi när du dricker dina förfriskningar. Matmenyn är inte stor men det finns något där för de flesta. Vi åt inte men maten som serverades såg bra ut. Om du är i Klipporna letar efter någonstans inte alltför pretentiösa med lite historia är detta platsen.
