Great museum. Very interactive and keeps the interest from small kids to big kids. Doesn't feel or look like most other stuffy museums.  Good cafe with sushi, pies and fries to name just some. Coffee was great. Staff were friendly and cheerful. Could spend hours here easily.

Very good! I came here on my own. I liked the large amount of insects and geological items, like gems and rocks. I also loved the Indigenous Peoples section, with objects and keepsakes. I think this museum would be great for kids that love dinosaurs, or for anyone that enjoys Australian history.

I found the architecture of the museum to be very modern and interesting, but that will only be the fascinating thing the museum has to offer.

For a $15 entry fee, I found the museum to be quite small, with some parts still under renovation. The collections of other available exhibitions feels small and rather generic with a few interesting highlights like the dinosaurs and taxidermies. On the positive side, all items come with detailed information regarding its history so its still pretty interesting to learn about the history of Melbourne.

In conclusion, the museum really lacks a "wow" factor for adults visitors. Other state museums (SA Museum, Australian Museum Sydney) does a much better job with FREE entry.

Beautiful dinosaur exhibit with a real Triceratops fossil on display (a temporary exhibition). We also really enjoyed the Aboriginal stories and culture exhibit. The museum was a bit crowded, lots of kids, I imagine it’s a good place for families for a day out.

We visited on a Sunday with two small kids and we spent longer than expected enjoying the exhibits and the kids area. Great activity for kids!
While we were there, one of our kids disappeared while our back was turned and the staff were so helpful and professional. Honestly could not have asked for a better team and we thank you all for helping find our child. We’ll be back again for sure!
