We went twice to Ming Dining. Our first time was to try the food. We were very impressed by the quality and presentation of the food. The staff were very professional and polite. The venue, with its ambiance, lighting and decor, exceeded all our expectations.

Ming Dining has a separate room that the staff advised can be booked for events. With its location right in the centre of Melbourne, close to two train stations and several convenient parking locations nearby.

Our most recent experience was for our wedding reception, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The food menu was proposed by Tony and every single one of them was incredible; they were beautifully presented and expertly prepared.  The dishes were served at the perfect timing; everyone always had something on their plate. All the guests were praising the quality and variety of the dishes, and how prompt the service of both the food and drink were.
The service was fantastic — the staff were so professional, attentive, friendly, and always accommodating to our needs including the children. The atmosphere of the room was perfect.

We highly recommended Ming Dining for anyone looking for a fantastic dinner spot or the perfect wedding venue.

While never intrusive, the staff is always available to inquire whether you need recommendations or to ensure that you’re satisfied with the dishes.

Environment:
Ming Dining features a fancy and spacious environment. With a choice between private dining rooms and a large, open dining hall, the restaurant caters to both intimate gatherings and lively social occasions.

Cuisine：
The Beijing roast duck is a standout—its crispy skin is perfectly rendered, while the generous portions ensure satisfaction. The duck is served in two styles; I chose the spicy pepper duck, a spicy and aromatic dish that is highly recommended for those who enjoy bold flavours.

I tried the Fusion Banquet-88pp, a beautifully curated 9-course tasting menu. The variety of dishes offered a delightful culinary journey, with the crispy sesame chicken being a standout. The chicken was incredibly tender, and the sesame-coated skin added a fragrant crunch that made it unforgettable.

The Valentine’s Day set menu, priced at $148, was not worth it—not just because we left hungry.

Service: The biggest issue was the complete lack of service. To save costs, the restaurant was severely understaffed—no one to greet guests, clear plates, or refill water. Even the cleaning staff had to help serve food.

Food: Below-average for Asian cuisine, yet overpriced. This was likely due to the rushed nature of the Valentine’s Day set menu rather than carefully prepared dishes.

Ambience: The restaurant crammed in too many tables to maximize profit. Even bar counters were used as dining tables, which were too small to hold plates properly. Overcrowding led to long waits for seating and payment, with no staff available to assist. Definitely not suitable for a special occasion dinner.

Valentines dinner was great! Food was delicious, my partner and I were pleasantly surprised with the flavours with every dish. Thank you so much for the service, we had a great time with lots of laughs and love ❤️

First time giving a one star review.
The waiter pretended to be busy but actually did nothing.
We arrived on time but had to wait 20 minutes to be seated.
Waiting too long for the food, no waiter brought water, waited an hour for a cup of Coke.
The whole meal was cold and the only warm food was fish which was undercooked.
I strongly recommend that people who see this message don't come to this restaurant. This place will not only disappoint you, but will make you very angry.
