My friends and I had dinner at Smith St Bistrot and we had such a delightful experience. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was top notch.

We wanted to have all the mains come out at the same time, but one dish came out late. So they compensated by giving us a free dish even though we were not complaining. We felt very well taken care of and felt that they care a lot about customer's experience. Thank you for such an amazing time and we will definitely come back again.

Best French Restaurant in Australia!! We stepped into a welcoming & warm atmosphere, greeted by friendly staff who were genuinely attentive & their customer service on point! Loved the attention to detail, the table setting, the high quality meals are a taste bud sensation “ complements to team chefs!!” The cocktail barman “Kai” knows his drink selection & happily whipped up one of his recommended cocktails…. Delicious!! Highly recommend a visit you won’t be disappointed. We will be back😃😍🙌 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Smith St Bistro is a three level restaurant in a beautiful old building on busy Smith Street in Fitzroy.
We went on a Saturday evening (first sitting at 6:30 pm).
Great wine list with good "by the glass" options. Food menu (discreetly tucked inside the wine menu) is a decent selection of starters, entrees and mains. There is also a set menu if you're having trouble deciding!
High quality tableware, cloth napkins, comfy seats (ground floor is booth style with a standalone chair if a group of 3.
Mezzanine floor is more traditional table and chair arrangement. There is also a first floor dining room for special occasions - on the night we went there was a pretty classy hen's night there :)
People with disabilities may struggle a little here as the ground floor is pretty tightly packed and the upper floors are accessed by a very elegant but very steep staircase.
It was fairly noisy when we visited - to the extent that we couldnt really hear the waiter and conversation at the table was strained.
We were also immediatley opposite the open kitchen which added a lot to the noise.
Great choice for a very good meal :)

Waiters are attentive without being intrusive.

We had dinner on 11/06/2024 at 6:15.

My first impression was the beautifully set table with plates and cutlery, 🍴🍽️ and I found these meticulous details to be a welcome addition to the overall ambiance of the restaurant.

The food was fantastic. Our main dishes were Gnocchi and lamb. The Gnocchi was exceptional, the best I have ever had⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - it melted in my mouth, and I could immediately tell it was a homemade recipe. The lamb was incredibly tender and packed with flavor in every bite.🤤
The signature dessert, “Soufflé” as recommended by our server, was beautifully presented. It’s velvety and divine.🧁

I must also mention that the service was outstanding; our server, who I believe was named “Courtney”, was fantastic 👌🏼✨

I have no doubt that I will return in the future!🙂
