The hotel is placed right in the middle of the old part of the city, inside the Diocletian's palace. Rooms are amazing, but if you are older make sure that room doesn't have a gallery bed. Service is amazing, reception is available 24 hours a day and they are extremely helpful when it comes to suggesting restaurants, places to visit or if you need any help. Rooms are always clean and comfortable.

We're currently on a 3 1/2 week trip through Croatia, Montenegro, etc, which has given us a good sense of the level of service, accommodations, etc that can be expected of 4- and 5-star hotels in the region.

Hotel Vestibul Palace is located in the middle of Diocletian's Palace — you rarely get a hotel in a more unique location than this! — right in Old Town Split. It's surrounded by restaurants, and 2 minutes walk from the Riva. Super convenient!

In terms of service, they're highly competent and solid. I wouldn't necessarily say amazing — few are — but definitely above average. No complaints there.

In terms of the room itself (we stayed in Room #7), it was fine, but not necessarily something to write home about. However, for being a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, the "luxury" part feels lacking. For example, the bath towels were relatively small and thin, and reminded me of the type of towels frequently use in college dorms (read: budget). The room itself was small, which is understandable considering the location, but also *felt* small. We've stayed in plenty of small rooms, and you can definitely tell when the decisions made for a space has been thoughtfully chosen with a design-mindset — from the type, quality, and placement of furniture, to the way lighting is selected and where they're positioned. These sort of decisions end up making a room feel larger than it actually is, spark joy, feel relaxing, and creates a sense of luxury.

Overall, this is a solid 4.5 stars: above average, but room for improvement.

Great service and amazing location in the heart of the ancient palace.  The front desk even reached out via telephone and allowed me to rebook a different night when I had a 24 delay from a missed international connection.  We had an extremely easy arrival with returning the nova rental car and met by a very friendly and helpful porter that helped us with our bags across the short walk to the hotel and a brief overview of the historical sites.  I highly recommend this very small (only seven rooms) boutique hotel.

Note from other reviews, this hotel is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site.  Walls are exposed historical bricks and there is no elevator.  It would literally be a crime to renovate the hotel into an average SLH hotel.  The rooms are appropriately sized (larger than the average in Manhattan) and nicely furnished (I prefer this to most other SLH’s I’ve visited).  If you want a brand new hotel with large rooms, book elsewhere.  If you want an experience and hotel room to remember, book the Vestibul Palace.

This was simply an amazing luxury boutique hotel. It is located in the heart of Diocletian's Palace and is centrally located to all the major attractions within the old town.

It can be difficult to locate (no thanks to Google Maps) if it is your first time in Split. The Diocletian's Palace precinct or the old part of Split is not accessible by vehicles so you will need to walk to the hotel. In hindsight we probably should have contacted the hotel before we arrived and had someone assist with our luggage. They did help us with our luggage when we left.

The hotel is located immediately adjacent to the ancient roman vestibule, a circular stone hall, and opposite the Ethnographic Museum. The internal lobby is light and airy with a glass roof - the area also doubles as the hotel's dining area. In there is an outdoor dining area on a cobbled courtyard at the hotel entrance.

Each of the eleven rooms are unique as they have had to fit them within the heritage listed Roman and Medieval walls of the buildings. I just loved the historic character of the hotel and how they had managed to fit it out with modern furnishings without compromising the building's heritage. We were lucky in that we had a standard double room on the lower floor so wasn't much of a staircase to climb but I would probably splurge next time and get the junior suite. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was well laid out. We even overlooked the vestibule and could listen to the singers performing there.

The staff were extremely helpful, providing us with great recommendations on where to eat, a pre-packed breakfast for when we were heading off on an early morning boat cruise, assisting us with dealing with a parking infringement we incurred earlier in our travels. The service the hotel provided was outstanding.

We stayed at the Annex location at Villa Dobric and could not have had a more pleasant experience! We arrived at the main hotel which is a part of the palace walls and were greeted with a warm welcome and offer of beverages. They provided wonderful recommendations for where to eat in the city. The kind staff walked us and carried our luggage to the Villa location which is a short 6 min walk from the main property and overlooks a beautiful town square!

Our stay was broken up into multiple part as we spent a night visiting Plitvice Lakes and the staff was most accommodating to our needs— they prepared us a large breakfast to take on our travels and stored our larger luggage while we were away. They staff communicated with me via WhatsApp and made sure someone was Available to greet us upon our return, even though it was late in the evening.

Breakfast at the main hotel was superb and the was a beautiful walk to start our day.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Split— the hospitality they showed us from quickly responding to emails during our trip planning all the way through our stay has been outstanding!
