Probably just the time of day and year that we visited (2:00pm in Late December but there wasn’t much to see.  However it was still a nice way to spend a hour or so. Just make sure you wear shoes with good grip +/- hold the handrails as you walk around.

The ice on parts of the wooden paths can be very slippery and if you are there after 3:00pm in the winter months, consider making a bee line for the exit before it gets too dark because  it becomes extra tricky trying to identify the slippery bits in the low light.

Ranua Zoo was a fascinating experience! The big exhibits house a variety of Arctic animals, and it was incredible to see wolverines, polar bears, and wolves up close. The enclosures are spacious and well-maintained, showing that the animals are well cared for. The zoo's layout requires a fair amount of walking, so be prepared for a bit of exercise. Overall, it was an amazing day out at the zoo.

Great experience to see polar bear, owls, foxes and wolf are beautiful. It’s easily walkable zoo in a unique Arctic setting. The lunch buffet at the restaurant offer reindeer if you're looking to try. Also, can purchase lovely gift in souvenirs shop.

Very nicely setup Zoo, with mainly native animals. Only exception being the sole polar bear, which is obviously not a Finnish species.
The enclosures are relatively large and offer at least some cover for the animals.

I don't like zoo's and usually don't visit it, but this place is not a zoo. Looks like animals feel comfortable there (especially rodents), and there is a lot of space
