Great, the restaurant interior feels cozy like a living room it's not too fancy but surely a bit upscale, we where passing by Metz on our way to Paris. The 3 course seasonal menu was perfectly fitting the hot summer weather. The most remarkable dish was the gazpacho for starters, the fish and later dessert was also good but not achieving the same level and uniqueness. The pairing wine was also 👌.

Derrière is the type of restaurant that makes you happy to be in France. We had the 60 Euro four-course menu and were delighted with all the dishes, but especially the wonderful tomato dish with olive sorbet and burrata and the pristine cod dish with super fresh peas.
The accompanying four-glass wine selection offered a good variety of local wines, each one matching the dishes very well. As someone who loves bread and rich butters, the freshly baked focaccia and bread, accompanied with three different butters, was fabulous. I could have easily made a meal of it.
Service is friendly and efficient. We highly recommend a meal here when in Metz.

This place is a hidden gem, as its name says. The food is of the highest quality, well presented, and with creative combination of ingredients. Wine selection is also great. The only remark is the seating, which is slightly uncomfortable as you can’t get the chair close enough to the table due to its design. It also takes slightly too long to get the dishes so plan a longer night, especially if going for a 4 or 6 course menu. We took a 4-course menu with an addition of a cheese plate and this was plenty of food. The price is on a higher end but the food is certainly of a very good quality.

With incredible creativity and vibrancy encapsulated in a boutique and chic ambiance, Derrière delivers a lavash tasting menu complete with a terrific wine selection and fabulous service. The menu is a surprise and not for the faint of heart. But if you’re a fan of fine dining and want the experience of having your pallet lay in the hands of a master chef for an evening, then Derrière will over deliver in all the right ways. Extremely affordable for a Michelin Guide restaurant as well and well worth a visit.

Apologies for the English. Je ne parle pas bien francais. My adult daughter and I dined at Derriere last night. My swordfish was delicious but her tuna was truly inedible. It was tough and chewy. She left her plate barely touched. I mentioned it to the server who apologized and said that she wasn't a manager so couldn't take it off the bill (which I did not request btw) but offered me a shot of alcohol. I thought it was an odd response. I declined the shot and she brought a glass of champagne which I did ultimately drink but it didn't help my daughter who went without much of a dinner. The server also said we could complain to the manager but it was our last night together and my daughter asked that it not be ruined by complaints, despite how unsatisfying the dinner was for her. We are repeat customers. We have visited before and had fantastic food and service across the board. Last night was unfortunate. I have given the restaurant as a recommendation to many people since our first visit several years ago, but I don't feel I can do that anymore between the quality issue with the dish and then the unfortunate reaction of the server. Thanks for asking for feedback. I wish we had a better report. My swordfish was delicious and the decor and atmosphere are a ton of fun, but at the end of the day, we came to enjoy exceptional food and the tuna was far from that.
