Staff were very welcoming and were very understanding as I practiced my French.

Very well visited by locals and family feel.

Frites are probably the best in town!  You would be remiss to have without the aioli.

Would recommend the restaurant and staff without hesitation.

After a harrowing taxi ride through Paris rush hour traffic, in the rain; traffic that makes LA traffic seem tame. We arrived at our hotel tired and hungry. Dropping off our luggage after check in, there was a quick turnaround to find something to eat.

I had searched out several spots nearby and closest was Au Reveil Samaritan. Mixed reviews but they were getting our patronage tonight.

Making our short walk down to the restaurant, the first impression is dated and half empty. There was indoor and outdoor seating, but with the possibility of more rain we chose to stay indoors. And to be honest, I only wanted something like a burger, fill my stomach and get back to the room. So I ordered their Burger Au Reveil plate with fries. And not having tried them in England she went with the Fish & Chips.

In a nutshell, the staff were decent and so was the food. Nothing near great but satisfying when tired and in need of a bite before settling down. And conveniently close to the Marriott. The young lady with short hair is very personable when she gets a chance to slow her hectic pace.

Nice enough place here on St Jacques.  Only here for a very early morning coffee and croissant, but found the staff very friendly, accommodating and welcoming.  

Excellent coffee and a heavenly croissant all for only 1.10€.

As to the menu and quality...I'll try them some time.  The restaurant is always busy with locals, so there must be a consistent draw.

This is a great place for a sidewalk breakfast.  American style breakfast was really low priced.  Love the waiters for their positive attitude - so unFrench.  

If you are staying at the Marriott hotel across the street, come here for breakfast instead of getting raped at the hotel.

Ate here for four mornings.

My sixteen year old says this place is the best in Paris .  The food was great both nights we ate here.  The servers are polite and attentive.  We will be back.:)

The place was packed but service was great. Our party had 2 pizzas and a chicken cream sauce penne dish and all was great.

My wife and I ate here recently. We ordered a lamb chop and mussels. Both arrived stone cold, although the chips and potatoes were hot. By apperance the lamb chop looked like it had been cooked sometime ago - I'd guess lunchtime.

We sent the food back. The waitress told us (in French - my wife is French and I'm fluent) that "I'll pass-on the message" and "it's nothing to do with me"! There's nothing like customer service, and that's certainly nothing like customer service ..

The same dishes were returned re-heated. This meant that the lamb was over-cooked. We were trying to have a nice meal out, so decided not to send it back again, although I got the impression that we'd have had an argument had we done that.

The lamb was served with potatoes, which were nice, although the menu had it with green beans. The waitress should have mentioned that when we ordered - a minor issue, but indicative of their attitude.

You know the typical parisian brasserie style cafes ... well this is one of them with all the good and bad things one would expect in such a place. The really good: FREE WIFI! The good: coffee is decent and the croissants and tartines are good. the bad: service is not really part of the french lifestyle ... so don't expect it to be any different here. The ugly: it is situated on a very busy, noisy and smelly avenue in the 14th next to the Marriott. The terrace is always occupied by smokers so non smokers are virtually forced to sit inside if they don't want to inhale second hand smoke.

Decent crepes but when u ask for a tip we will politely decline and leave!!! We really wanted to make this our spot to gather but alas that will not be the case now. Very rude and most unacceptable!!!
