Chez Lea was a cozy place with an almost California vibe.

We got steak w/ potato gratin and some kind of Asian-inspired salmon. The steak and gratin were delicious, but the salmon was trapped in a case of burnt sesame seeds (and heavily dressed in miso(?) sauce). Lesson: don't order Asian dishes at a French cafe.
 
The espresso was good and woke me up from all the wine I had. It's hard to leave when servers leave you alone to socialize all afternoon. Some tourists don't like this, but I appreciate it.

I saw several groups at different tables order fromage blanc - and wish I had room for dessert.

Cafe Lea was definitely one of my favourite cafes that I visited during my stay in Paris.  I loved getting up early every morning and taking my walk from the hostel to the river and having my morning coffee here.  I used to come here and sit at my table writing my postcards for hours-not that I takes hours to write postcards but I just loved killing time here.  

It seemed like this place had a very local air because of all the regulars that stop by at almost any time of the day.  There are morning regulars and there are mid-day regulars,  afternoon regulars, evening regulars etc.  I always enjoyed watching them having a blast but unfortunately I couldn't join them most of the time because of my lack of french speaking skills.  Although I couldn't speak french, that doesn't mean they don't happily help you when you ask for something in english.  

The people at the bar are very friendly and helpful; I loved the fact that they gave me very useful tips on finding local bars that are not very touristy and swarming with unlocals.  :)  

This cafe was also located at a perfect corner for me because right across the road from this corner you get to Rue Mouffetard, where you can find many many interesting spots for your 'literary walk'.

THIS PLACE IS MY JAMMMM

during the daylight hours, u can chill here for like 3 hours just watching ppl walk around. its geolocation is jus a little weird, but the homies who walkin down mouffetard and go to far will spill out here. also the cafe is cheaper than anywhere else just get it at the bar b!

at night i roll into this joint with my homies, pass the bartender a hot stack of euro bills, and drink pichets of wine until we yelling, acting savage, pinching ppl's butts etc. its the cheapest u can go out in paris, the city of tights

they dont bitch about u postin up for a few hours so bring ur weird hemingway novel or whatever and pretend ur a real parisian u tourist pig hahahah im playin we cool

dinner plates includes "the balm special" which is 4 sauces/balms that you put on breads

lunch they got real legit things like hachis or maybe salad its good

Cafe Lea was one of my favorite neighborhood spots when I was living in Paris. The place is conveniently located at the corner of Gobelins and Claude Bernard.

I used to go there for a drink (or more) after work. All the beers are 3-4 euros. They have a really good selection of wine and aperitif. You can order a charcuterie platter for 9-10 euros. I always had a good time there.

Service can be pretty slow, but they only have one person at the bar and one server. It can be loud, but you can always get away from the crowd and sit at one of the tables outside

Perfect hipster place, a must visit if you are in the area.

Highly recommend -- at the top of my list for Paris cafes!  Went here for two meals and about 5 coffees during our week in Paris. My son had been there & highly recommended it. We weren't disappointed. Very friendly and helpful staff whether one was just stopping for coffee or a meal. Excellent food & service every time! Average to below average prices for Paris. Great atmosphere with both inside & outside seating.

Love this place. Located right near the Rue Mouffetard (but without all the pretentious touristiness), it's a local brasserie with a young, hip crowd (yes, there are such brasseries that exist in Paris). It's French, it's friendly, and it's fun. The bartenders know everyone and the patrons are all friends with each other. They make a wicked chocolat chaud on a cold Paris day. A pression is affordable and it's a great place to people watch. Definitely recommended.

Too bad the service here was so bad that I didn't get to try anything. When the waitress came out she was irritated that my french wasn't perfect so she switched over to her own bad English.  I asked for a drink menu and she said if I wanted to read a list then go inside and read the drinks posted to the wall.  Well, they had mojitos and other girlie drinks posted, which I wasn't interested in so I named a couple of basic drinks which the bartender apparently never heard of....

For the record, my french isn't perfect but I've been in France for a week and haven't had any trouble getting drinks in bars until this place.

This place is fantastic. The staff is awesome. The location is perfect. There's no in-house wifi so if you want to get some work done ... well then that's precisely what's going to take place. I think they have the cheapest shot of exquisite espresso in town. It's one big family and an integral part of the neighborhood's ecology.

i have a wonderful time there, especially when i finish my class, it's a great place to study and have a cafe here.
the cafe is not realllllllllly "great", i mean i love to have "UN bon café à Paris" but the atmosphere here is wonderful than only taste the cafe. therefore, i love to stay here a whole afternoon only feel clam and relax.
the server is great and nice, smile all the time when you want to get away from the books...., they always give you a warm smile, and it's really helping to encourage you for going back to work.
