The food was good and the presentation was carefuly structured and interesting.  However, when compared with other restaurants in the same town I did wonder if the food could be considered 'worth it' at the price.  The radio playing Chère FM in the background food did not enhance the mood, though the decor was warm and inviting.  I feel like going back just to ask why they had money stuck to the walls. There was just the chef and the one man who was serving everyone and it was noticeable that he spent the majority of his time on other tables.  At no point did he approach after serving to verify that we were happy, we were, but still a good idea too ask.  The salt sellers are tricky.  Watch out with them our you risk putting salt all over the place. The tables were spacious and we did not feel cramped which was lovely.  Would happily go back but only if someone else was paying.

The food was absolutely delicious and delicately served. Simple menu, easy to make a choice. Well worth of the newly awarded Michelin star.
The moment would have been remembered as such, but the downhill felt, afterwards, given by the staff’s service, put a damper upon our experience. Personally, as I have observed, the overall attitude of our hosts exposed coolness, as it lacked in warmth and enthusiasm. Maybe performance anxiety?

A very pleasant Saturday evening dinner at The Cote Bastide. Warm & friendly welcome, comfortable outdoor environment & lovely menu choices (3 courses for €30 plus a couple of ‘supplements’). Very helpful waiter - I think he is an owner? - and superb food on the plate. Excellent wine list at very reasonable prices. All together a very good experience and one to be repeated sometime.
