We stayed here for two nights in September, and based on the reviews, it seemed like the perfect choice for what we were looking for. Fortunately, it fully lived up to our expectations.

Our room, situated in the main building, offered a beautiful view of the garden and the surrounding mountains—a truly picturesque setting. The only minor inconvenience was the limited number of power outlets, making it a bit tricky to use devices like the coffee machine, kettle, and charge our phones simultaneously.

The staff, without exception, were warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay.

We dined at the hotel restaurant both evenings. While the menu was fixed, on our second night we were kindly offered alternative options. Unfortunately, the roasted duckling my husband ordered wasn’t quite up to par, but we appreciated the opportunity to provide feedback to the manager.

Overall, our stay was thoroughly enjoyable, and we would happily return to both the hotel and its restaurant on a future visit.

This is a review for the Michelin starred restaurant. We came for lunch and had a lovely time. We were invited to tour their garden of which some vegetables and herbs are used in their dishes. The grounds are beautiful and the restaurant overlooks olive trees. The table setting was adorable and the service was stellar. They anticipated everything we needed. I thoroughly enjoyed the amuse bouche of fresh tomatoes and socca. Their vegetable pasta starter was the best pasta we had on the trip and served table side. (Not want you expect).  The duck was perfectly cooked and we really enjoyed our desserts. The peach and apricots were the perfect amount of sweetness. When we thought the meal was done, they came out with cake and rose infused cream to close out the meal. I highly recommend if you're in the Moustiers area as the restaurants in Moustiers are lacking.

We spent three very relaxing and enjoyable nights at La Bastide de Moustieres recently and have to say that overall it was lovely. Our room was very comfortable and beautifully furnished, the setting and the grounds were all wonderful. The service by the highly professional staff was impeccable. We decided to have a picnic lunch outside our room on one of the most beautiful days during our stay and called reception to ask for a couple of wine glasses. Once they understood they were for a picnic, they arrived with the glasses, along with dishes, silverware, napkins and set the outside table beautifully. Then removed everything when we were done. That kind of thoughtfulness and attentiveness was typical throughout our stay. A wonderful place we will definitely return to again. However, the reason the rating is only four stars is that, unfortunately, the restaurant was disappointing. No bad, just not what one would expect from a four star hotel and one star gourmet restaurant. Frankly, this was surprising, as most are aware it is owned by Alain Ducasse (who obviously wasn’t doing the cooking). But dinner on both our first two nights was very average. On our third night the kitchen was closed, so we decided to try a small bistro in the nearby village, Moustieres St. Marie, which was charming. As previously mentioned, overall we loved the Bastide and can definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxing place to stay near the Gorge du Verdon. However, you may want to dine in the nearby tiny village.

Absolutely stunning hotel, which you already know if you’re checking reviews. Here’s my opinions based on my experience:

Pros:
Moustiers Saint Marie was, by far, my favorite town even compared to several other popular ones we visited (we went to a lot). It’s quiet, colorful, and filled with tons of great food and shops.
If you’re a lover of vintage, this hotel will be perfect for you.
The room attendants are exceptional. They came twice a day, we were given night shirts, and fruit and biscuits daily. Great service.
There is so much to explore at this hotel - the garden, pool, restaurant, and there are two really cool donkeys!
Overall, a gorgeous property that you’ll fall in love with.

Cons:
We read that they serve crepes for breakfast and were looking forward to those but when asked about them, the staff seemed to be shocked we would think they offer them.
We stayed in a room in the main building which is where the restaurant is - it got pretty loud during dinner time if we were in the room and that lasted til pretty late hours.

This one I will elaborate more on -
Dinner at their Michelin star restaurant was my least favorite meal of the entire trip, sadly.
Many people rave about this restaurant which you might too if you have a broad palette. I do not so my only real option that sounded good to me was the lemon risotto. It did state there would be mint, but that was presented as either a garnish or smaller side ingredient. Three of the four of us ordered this. When it was brought to the table the smell of mint was overwhelming. We thought maybe because so many were being put on the table but upon the first bite we were very caught off guard. It tasted like we were brushing our teeth. The small tasting courses before hand didn’t excite us very much either but I won’t go into any more detail. Moral of the story - probably the worst risotto of my life. But, there’s a chance you can have a totally different experience.

Shortest answer of my review: Absolutely stunning hotel and I would return again and again but I would not eat at the restaurant unless a different menu was available, which I’m sorry it would be.

Stunning location. If you sit outside you might be lucky enough to sit by the terrace and experience the amazing view. Faultless service and delicious dining. Well worth a visit.
