Wir hatten das 8 Gänge Menü.

Der Abend begann leider bereits schwierig.
Da im benachbarten Landgasthof eine Feier stattfand war es schwierig einen Parkplatz zu finden, ich denke im Normalfall ohne Feier gibt es genügen kostenlose Parkplätze.

Die Begrüßung fand ein bisschen "zwischen Tür und Angel" statt.
Letztlich war an diesem Tag nicht so viel los, also durften wir einen Tisch aussuchen.
Das Ambiente empfanden wir als ein bisschen altbacken, eher Landgasthof typisch.

Wir bestellten das 6 Gänge Menü ohne Weinbegleitung.
Das Essen empfanden wir als enttäuschend, teilweise Lieblos angerichtet und nicht wirklich kreativ.
Die Desserts haben die restlichen Gänge definitiv wieder rausgehauen. Ein Lob an die Patisserie!

Die Käseauswahl ist fantastisch und die Gastgeberin konnte viel zu den Unterschiedlichen Sorten erzählen, so dass man definitiv das richtige für sich findet.

Der größte Negativpunkt jedoch definitiv der Service.
Gänge wurden wenn überhaupt kaum und schlecht annonciert.
Gläser blieben leer und Getränke wurden nicht nachgebracht.
Sehr beschreibend ist das nach dem Rinderfilet angeboten wurde den Rotwein zu holen der eigentlich für schon zum Gang davor versprochen wurde.
Die Wasserflasche war leider auch schnell leer, es war sehr warm. Der unaufmerksame Service hat es nicht bemerkt und wir saßen bestimmt 30-45 min auf dem trockenen bis endlich wieder jemand vorbeikam und wir eine neue Flasche bestellen konnten.
Eigentlich war der Service nur da um das Essen auf den Tisch zu stellen oder abzuräumen. Sich um die Gäste kümmern und ihnen einen schönen Abend bereiten schien zu viel.
Dabei war nicht so viel los. Bei ca. 20 Personen und 3-4 Servicekräften erwarte ich mehr.

Der Abend war sehr enttäuschend und nichts was ich aus anderen von Michelin ausgezeichneten Lokalen kenne.
Auf einen Besuch in diesem Lokal werde ich in Zukunft lieber verzichten.

Unfortunately, the evening started off difficult.
Since there was a celebration in the neighboring country inn, it was difficult to find a parking space, I think in normal cases without a celebration there are enough free parking spaces.

The greeting took place a bit “between doors and doors”.
In the end there wasn't that much going on that day, so we were allowed to choose a table.
We found the atmosphere to be a bit old-fashioned, more typical of a country inn.

We ordered the 6 course menu without wine accompaniment.
We found the food disappointing, partly carelessly prepared and not really creative.
The desserts definitely beat the rest of the courses. Kudos to the patisserie!

The selection of cheese is fantastic and the hostess was able to tell you a lot about the different types, so you can definitely find the right one for you.

The biggest negative point, however, is definitely the service.
Aisles were hardly, if at all, advertised and poorly advertised.
Glasses remained empty and drinks were not brought back.
It is very descriptive that after the beef fillet we were offered to get the red wine that was actually promised for the previous course.
Unfortunately, the water bottle was empty quickly as it was very warm. The inattentive service didn't notice and we sat there dry for 30-45 minutes until someone finally came by again and we could order a new bottle.
Actually, the service was only there to put the food on the table or clear it away. Taking care of the guests and giving them a nice evening seemed too much.
There wasn't that much going on. With around 20 people and 3-4 service staff, I expect more.

The evening was very disappointing and nothing like I've experienced at other Michelin-starred restaurants.
I would rather avoid visiting this restaurant in the future.

Auf der Suche nach einem feinen Ort für das besondere lukullische Erlebnis sind wir nun ins etwa 40 km entfernte Friedland gefahren. Ein kleines Dörfchen mit viel Fachwerk und einer einst bedeutenderen Rolle eben als Grenzübergang zwischen DDR und BRD.
Dort kocht seit Jahren Daniel Raub auf hohem Niveau. Zahlreiche Auszeichnungen lassen erahnen, in welche Richtung die kulinarische Reise führen kann. Die Küche zeigt sehr deutliche Bezüge zur klassischen französischen Schule, weicht aber auch mit eigenen Interpretationen und regionalen Produkten davon ab. Das Handwerk sitzt jedoch in jedem Gang. In den sechs Gängen gibt es keine einzige Pleite.
Was fällt noch auf?
1. Die Portionen der einzelnen Gänge sind ungewöhnlich groß, was zunächst mit Freude wahrgenommen, am Ende aber zur Erschöpfung und Narkolepsie am Tisch führt.
2. Der Service am Tisch war sehr persönlich, zugleich professionell, aber auf keinen Fall steif. Wir haben uns sehr willkommen gefühlt.
3. Beim Eintritt ins Lokal erlebt wir einen ungewöhnlich schönen Empfang von einer Hand voll kleiner Damen, die vergnüglich auf dem Sofa vor dem Kamin spielten. Die Mädchen hörte man nahezu den ganzen Abend immer wieder mal amüsiert lachen. Herrlich!!! Das war einfach nur unbezahlbar schön.
4. Die Immobilie mit dem Wintergarten und dessen Einrichtung wirkt etwas aus der Zeit gerückt. Das hochwertige Ambiente hat einige Jahrzehnte auf dem sprichwörtlichen Buckel. - Es ist jedoch nichts oll oder gar ranzig, nur eben nicht zeitgemäß. Das tut dem Servierten aber keinen Abbruch. Man setzt hier auf poliertes Tafelsilber und Goldkante. Ob es das braucht, ist eine reine Geschmacksfrage und damit unnötig zu diskutieren. Relevant ist am Ende das Küchenhandwerk und der Service am Tisch. Und hier bleiben keinerlei Fragen offen. Wir kommen sicher wieder und danken für den besonderen Abend in Friedland.

In search of a fine place for a special culinary experience, we drove to Friedland, about 40 km away. A small village with lots of half-timbered buildings and once played a more important role as a border crossing between GDR and FRG.
Daniel Raub has been cooking at a high level there for years. Numerous awards give an idea of ​​the direction in which the culinary journey can lead. The cuisine shows very clear references to the classic French school, but also deviates from it with its own interpretations and regional products. However, craftsmanship is present in every aisle. There is not a single bankruptcy in the six courses.
What else stands out?
1. The portions of the individual courses are unusually large, which is initially perceived with joy, but ultimately leads to exhaustion and narcolepsy at the table.
2. The service at the table was very personal, professional at the same time, but definitely not stiff. We felt very welcome.
3. As we entered the restaurant, we experienced an unusually lovely welcome from a handful of little ladies who were happily playing on the sofa in front of the fireplace. The girls could be heard laughing in amusement almost throughout the evening. Splendid!!! That was just pricelessly beautiful.
4. The property with the winter garden and its furnishings seems a bit out of time. The high-quality ambience has a few decades under its belt. - However, there is nothing old or even rancid, just not contemporary. But that doesn't detract from what's served. The focus here is on polished silverware and gold edges. Whether this is necessary is purely a question of taste and therefore unnecessary to discuss. In the end, what is relevant is the kitchen craftsmanship and the service at the table. And no questions remain unanswered here. We will definitely come back and thank you for the special evening in Friedland.

4,5* Hatten ein sechs Gänge Menü. Erst einmal finde ich den Ort der Location wirklich sehr spannend. Wirklich mitten im nichts. Daher würde man eig nicht erwarten, ein solches Restaurant hier zu finden.

Die Räumlichkeiten finde ich persönlich nicht so richtig ansprechend. Es wirkt alles sehr wohnlich und hat eher einen privaten Charakter. So etwas kann durchaus sehr schön sein, jedoch hat es mir hier nicht gefallen. Es wirkt eher altbacken.

Bei unserem Besuch war nur ein Raum geöffnet, sodass wir mit noch vier anderen Gästen in einem recht kleinen Raum saßen. Zu Beginn war das tatsächlich etwas unangenehm, insbesondere weil die anderen Gäste etwas ruhiger waren. Hier hat man das Gefühl, dass die anderen jedes Gespräch mithören. Dafür kann aber natürlich das Restaurant nichts.

Die Begrüßung war sehr freundlich und auch der Service war gut. Die Inhaberin war sehr kommunikativ und wir haben schöne Gespräche geführt. Ein bisschen Schade fand ich, dass der Koch, welche die Gänge präsentiert hat, etwas nervös und sehr kurz angebunden gewirkt hat. Man hatte fast das Gefühl, dass er auf der Flucht war.

Das Essen war ebenfalls hervorragend und die Interpretationen waren immer wieder erfrischend. Nichtsdestotrotz hat es mich teilweise nicht so richtig geflasht und das ist bei Sterneküche eig immer meine Erwartungshaltung. Die Weinkarte ist nett und besticht durch wirkliche faire Preise. Auch andere Drinks wie bspw. der Martini sind sehr fair bepreist.

Letztendlich kann ich aber irgendwie doch keine 5 Sterne geben, da mir Kleinigkeiten nicht so gut gefallen haben. Bei einem Restaurant dieser Klasse, müsste da aus meiner Sicht alles perfekt sein.

4.5* Had a six course menu. First of all, I find the location of the location really exciting. Really in the middle of nowhere. Therefore, you wouldn't expect to find a restaurant like this here.

Personally, I don't find the rooms particularly appealing. Everything seems very homely and has a more private character. Something like that can be very nice, but I didn't like it here. It seems rather old-fashioned.

When we visited, only one room was open, so we sat in a fairly small room with four other guests. At first it was actually a bit uncomfortable, especially because the other guests were a bit quieter. Here you have the feeling that others are listening in on every conversation. Of course, the restaurant can't do anything about that.

The welcome was very friendly and the service was also good. The owner was very communicative and we had lovely conversations. I found it a bit of a shame that the chef who presented the courses seemed a bit nervous and very short. You almost had the feeling that he was on the run.

The food was also excellent and the interpretations were always refreshing. Nevertheless, I wasn't really impressed at times and that's always my expectation at Michelin-starred kitchens. The wine list is nice and impresses with really fair prices. Other drinks such as the Martini are also very fairly priced.

Ultimately, I can't give it 5 stars because I didn't like the little things that much. In my opinion, for a restaurant of this class, everything should be perfect.

Um etwas Gutes zu erfahren muss man raus ‚aufs Land‘ fahren, denn dieses mit einem Michelin Stern bewertete Restaurant ist nicht (wie man es erwarten würde) inmitten der Göttinger Altstadt sondern im weitaus weniger spannendem Friedland.

Den Gast erwartet eine klassische Landgasthaus Architektur mit wenig dekorativer Aufregung. Die Weinkarte ist qualitativ sehr ausgewogen und mit fairen Preisen versehen.

Ausgewählt werden kann zwischen a la carte und 4- und 6-Gang Menü. Wir haben uns für letzteres ohne Weinbegleitung entschieden.  Auch wenn durch uns nicht in Anspruch genommen, so muss die bereitgestellte Käsevariation erwähnt werden. Die Auswahl und Tiefe ist ungewöhnlich gut, man wählt selbst aus und bekommt etwas vom handwerklich hergestellten Laib abgeschnitten.

Nun aber zum wichtigsten des Abends, den Speisen. Unsere Erwartungshaltung eines von Michelin prämierten Restaurants konnte leider nicht erfüllt werden. Die Darbietung, Frische und Geschmack haben allesamt überzeugt, letztlich fehlte aber die letzte Raffinesse.
Natürlich wird die Erwartungshaltung durch Prämierungen gesteigert. Ohne diese Auszeichnung und eine ähnliche Instanz im Nachbarort würde es womöglich auch zu 5 Sternen reichen.

Ansprechend waren Präsentationen des jungen Koches welche eine angenehme neue Erfahrung mit sich brachte. Hier noch etwas mehr Zeit am Tisch um seine Kreation besser ‚zu verkaufen‘ hätte ich gut gefunden.
Der Service war überzeugend und jederzeit am Gast interessiert.

Letztlich fehlt mir die Konsequenz einer eigenen Linie. Eine Wiederholung ist dennoch nicht ausgeschlossen.

To experience something good you have to go out 'to the country', because this restaurant, which has been rated with a Michelin star, is not (as you would expect) in the middle of Göttingen's old town but in the much less exciting Friedland.

The guest can expect classic country inn architecture with little decorative excitement. The wine list is very well balanced in terms of quality and has fair prices.

You can choose between a la carte and 4- and 6-course menus. We opted for the latter without any wine accompaniment.  Even if we do not use it, the variety of cheese provided must be mentioned. The selection and depth is unusually good, you choose yourself and get something cut off from the handcrafted loaf.

But now to the most important thing of the evening, the food. Unfortunately, our expectations of a Michelin-awarded restaurant could not be met. The presentation, freshness and taste were all convincing, but ultimately the final sophistication was missing.
Of course, expectations are increased by awards. Without this award and a similar instance in the neighboring town, 5 stars would probably be enough.

Presentations by the young chef were appealing and brought with them a pleasant new experience. I would have liked a little more time at the table to better 'sell' his creation.
The service was convincing and always interested in the guest.

Ultimately, I lack the consistency of my own line. However, a repetition cannot be ruled out.
