Excellent service, signature Nobu miso cod was overcooked, I was a regular at their Malibu location so i expected to have their signature dish cooked perfectly no matter the location I go to. Also the wagyu was slightly overcooked to almost a medium rather than a medium rare that it should be served at. Service was 100% excellent and attentive and you forget you’re in Germany and transported to another world in that aspect. Very attentive and sweet waitress. Signature hamachi was as expected and very delicious but the toro with caviar didn’t need so much soy as it took away from the toro, I tried to pour the soy out to just enjoy the toro.

Matsuhisa is located on the 1st floor or Mandarin Oriental Hotel, it is a dark furnished restaurant with tables and a bar where the sushi men do their magic. We sat at a table close to the bar. The food is excellent as you can expect for the price point charged, we had a variety of food and drinks and ended up paying €650 for four of us, certainly no bargain , but for the quality and location to be expected.

I would strongly caution against ordering seafood at this restaurant, as my experience suggests serious issues with food preparation. My family and I dined here on Christmas Eve, but our celebration was ruined when I became violently ill, spending five hours on Christmas morning throwing up.

The seafood, particularly the scallops and uni, appeared to be mishandled. The raw scallops, served with a black sesame sauce, were slimy—a common sign of improper thawing. The uni (served in a shot glass with sushi rice) was bitter, slimy, and seemed partially defrosted, making it inedible. These are clear red flags for seafood quality and safety.

Following this unfortunate experience, I contacted the hotel manager at the Mandarin Oriental, who assured me that the food would be tested and I would receive financial compensation for our €500 meal. However, I have not heard back regarding the lab results or a refund, which adds to my disappointment.

While food poisoning incidents can sometimes be isolated, this experience has left me extremely wary of this establishment. If you choose to dine here, I strongly recommend inspecting your food carefully and sending anything questionable back immediately. Your health is not worth the risk.

There is no need to describe the food because it lives up to the reputation. It is absolutely delicious. Being located inside Mandarin Oriental, the atmosphere is wonderful. The decor inside is very nice and it has a cozy vibe. However, I had issue with the service. It took 20 mins to take our order and this was only after I called the waiter. We ordered sushi rolls, but to our surprise they cleared the table and asked if we want dessert and tea/coffee. The service unfortunately was not good at all. I have the service 3 stars because of the service of the chef. The guests tipped the waiter but I saw it very unworthy.
