Howth Cliff Walk is an incredible experience, easily accessible by train from Dublin. The trail offers stunning coastal views, fresh air, and a peaceful escape from the city. Howth is known for its seafood, with plenty of restaurants and shops specializing in fresh catches – perfect for a meal before or after the hike. You can take a bus up to the top and walk down at your own pace, enjoying the breathtaking scenery along the way. On a good day, you might even spot seals or dolphins in the water! Highly recommend for nature lovers and anyone wanting a taste of Ireland's coastal beauty.

A nice walk along the Howth cliffs taking in scenery of Ireland. There are four hikes to choose from and I did the purple one being the longest and hardest. At about 8.5miles it took just over 3 hours including stops to take photos. Apart from at the start there are no toilets. Great views for the first half and then it turns inland going through vegetation and even a golf course. Recommend to do on a nice day.

Amazing place with a wonderful history as we took the green trail along the cliff all the way around to the light house, passing the EIRE 6 landmark. It was not stressful, so the kids were able to take lots of photos and not get tired on the way. The Irish weather also did not disappoint, so all in all, it was a good day

Loved this cliff walk. Not difficult, mostly even. You can have a coffee or food in the cute village before and after the walk. We took our time stopping for many photos. Absolutely gorgeous views.

For those who want to see the eastern seaboard of Ireland, Howth (pronounced HŌTH) is definitely worth a visit. This small coastal town is about 35-50 minutes by train from Dublin and boasts some of the most magnificent views of the coastline and cliffs. The town has done a great job curating this with plenty of signs and structures the cliff walks into 4 color coded round trip hikes from Howth train station. The Green route is 6km (2 hour hike), Blue 7km, Red 8km and Purple 12 km (3 hour hike) with increasing degrees of difficulty not just because of the distance but because of the steepness in the climbs. The paths are mostly unpaved with some parts that makes you feel like you’re in the jungle given the foliage. They do a nice job manicuring the paths as smooth as possible but there are no railings or chains to prevent you from falling over the cliff so be careful if you’re bringing along small children.  I did the Green path which the first part felt very much off the beaten path and at times difficult to hike up the rocks but the second part (after you reach the Summit point) felt much more “civilized” taking you through the very affluent and middle class parts of the town before returning to the train station. Bring very comfortable walking shoes and avoid going during the rain. The muddy roads make for a messy trip. From the train station, follow signs with the colored arrow path you want to follow. Initially, it is a little confusing but follow the path closer to the waterside and avoid taking streets that take you up into the inner hilly part. Once you get to the actual starting point area, you’ll see a small bathroom and a clear path that will take up uphill. From there the signs are pretty easy to follow.
