I discovered that Massimo Bottura has a casual bistro named Franceschetta58 in Modena. Obviously much more affordable than his Michelin starred Francescana. The food was amazing. And pretty much the usual price for a lunch. If you in Modena this is totally worth the trip.

The restaurant is just a short walk from the old town. We loved the food, this was a truly unique experience. The service was above and beyond: they made a special pasta for the little one (one of the best he had during the trip) and when desserts were served with our pre fix, he got a small special treat.

Really enjoyable and highly recommended.

Came here for my husbands 40th birthday. Wow was it worth it. Food, service and atmosphere was exceptional! This is an important experience for any foodie. Well priced. Excellent wine pairings. A delicious lunch and so easy to sit for hours. The extra tortellini dish is a must have extra! We can't wait to make a return visit.

Our first dinner in Modena, in this famed casual bistro by Massimo Bottura. It is in a not veeeery centric location but a nice place to walk. The place is cool and spacious, modern and vibey. We sat at the back terrace, but it was quite noisy, since it's in a busy street with a lot of car traffic, although weather was great.
Food is good, with 2 menú degustazione options or a la carte. We got around 7 small plates to share and did not disappoint.
It is a great option for casual dinner with great food, a good by the glass wine selection and not too steeply priced for local specialties with a chef's touch. There are some classic Bottura like his hamburger (did not love it but its a must, very different).
