It was a disappointment - both for Michelin recommended and as a Japanese restaurant (and I like Japanese). Most dishes were simply not tasty - some even uneatable! We took the 7-courses meal.
This is very far from a Michelin starred (which it is not as far as I understand).
Waiter got a cold and continued to sneeze and cough - not a pleasing experience. Did not clean the table between courses until the end of the meal.
Dishes looked nice but again - not tasty!

You must go to this restaurant. I love a tasting menu and this one is up there as one of the best ever. We had "Evolution" which is their "best of" and every dish was really delicious. When in Rome, escape the tourist spots and go to neighborhood restaurants like this. They are always my favourite place to eat. The spaghetti was rich and yummy and the fish super fresh. You won't regret it. This experience in London would be double the price. Incredible value for money.

Bistrot64 is a rather innovative Italian neobistrot with clear Japanese influences. It plays around with techniques and ingredients to create dishes, many based on Italian classics, that sometimes shine, sometimes may seem too clean, yet are made in such a pure and clean style that, as a food lover, I cannot help but admire. In a sense you may take it more as an art museum where you enjoy the craft as much as the “tasty factor”.

Our tasting menu certainly played around with purity and vegetable replacement of pasta and minimalism shined through everything.

There was the very simple but excellent raw shrimp with herb and olive oil, there was pasta made of celeriac root, there was the potato carbonara with undercooked potato producing the al dente effect, the risotto with radicchio and powerful cheese, the almost classic Venetian yeel, the steak and explosion of citrus and chocolate presented in small cubes of joy.

I cannot say that every dish was equally good or curious but the idea of purity and precision permeated every presentation.

We will certainly be back!

The service was super slow. We understand that isn’t fast food but 3.15 hours for 8 courses is a lot. The food was good but nothing surprising.

I could not have asked for a better experience. We went there for dinner and decided to go for the more extensive tasting menu. I loved that we had no idea what it would be. I realise the concept may not be to everyone's taste, but take a leap of faith. It's worth it!
Every item was well executed and interesting. The service was very good and at a better pace than other fine dining restaurants I've been to before.
Something I've not seen mentioned is that the place is beyond spotless. The decor is very sleek.
I know some people complained about the à la carte menu. I obviously cannot speak on this. The one thing I did find odd was the cacio e peppe taster we were given after the dessert course. But it made me realise the one I had at another restaurant, a supposedly good one, was absolutely sub standard. So even this was a lesson and a win.
I recommend Bistrot64 but come with a curious and open mind. They are on to great things.
