My favourite tourist attraction in Sicily, great value for €5 and really well done; paths, signs, information and a really nice café and souvenir shop - the views are amazing and well worth the climb. Very pleasant and helpful staff too

A great place to visit with beautiful views in every direction. It was a hot day when we went so I almost stopped after getting as far as the temple, but decided in the end to carry on up to the ruins of the castle and the views of the coastline to the East made it so worth it. The ticket is 5 euros and you can pay by card at the machine at the entrance. Keep the ticket as you need to scan it to get out again! There's a little cafe and toilet at the entrance, but nothing after that, so be prepared - definitely take water with you if it's hot as some parts of the path have no shade. It's also very dusty, so I'd recommend closed shoes that you don't mind getting a bit dirty.

This is a very nice hike that will reward you with amazing views.  Bring your camera, plenty of water, and try to get an early start if it's hot.  The trail is on the west side of the mountain with some morning shade.
Parking at the trailhead is pretty much impossible.  We paid for 4 hours of parking on the street near the beach and had a very nice walk through town to the park entrance.  There is a fee to enter and you can only be on the trail when it's open (there's a gate that's locked after hours).

There's a fork in the trail about halfway up the hill.  Turn right (south) to take direct route to the castle on top of the hill.  Turn left (north) to take a path that leads through some older ruins and eventually head to the top.  We took the direct route up, and explored the ruins on the return leg.  Be careful of slipping on loose rock on north trail.

We were on the trail for the better part of two hours -- about 30 minutes up and as much time as we needed to explore the top as well as the ruins on the way down.
