Remarkable museum, love the mineral section! I would recommend going with a few hours of time as there's a ton of exhibits, and note that they close at 5pm. Able to go same day for tickets, reservations don't seem necessary (except for certain rooms, then you need them).

La Specola is a wonderfully dense museum, with thousands of exhibits to look through. The collection is split into two main pieces: one focusing on wax models of human anatomy, and the other on zoological and geological preserved specimens.

I definitely recommend the wax models as they are intricate works of art that are incredibly lifelike. However, the zoological specimens have much less in the way of information and context and are provided more as a collection to browse at your pace.

So, I'd recommend it if that sounds like your things, but if you are just interested in human anatomy and the descriptions of it's history then you may find it a little limited.

One of the nicest, coolest most unique and underrated museum complex’s you will ever visit. It had so much to see and do, it’s very educational and informative. The collection is vast as there are several museums to visit. The collections are very displayed and preserved. It’s a great place to take children of all ages, I really enjoyed the time I spent here. I would definitely recommend visiting La Specola museums.
