House of the Black Heads is an old Merchant’s group with historic links to Germany. The building is mostly a reconstruction from photos as the original was destroyed during the war. This gives it a unique modern feeling whilst retaining an older aesthetic.

We spent 1 hour here and read through the history of the merchant group.

Audio guides were available for €3 and you can upgrade your ticket to include champagne for €2

Toilets were clean and modern. No queues so no need to book in advance.

Beautiful big building with lots of history! Don't skip this during your visit to Riga! I visited on 27 December and it wasn't busy at all.

One of the best places to visit in Riga. Entry ticket is cheap, and there is even an extra student discount. You can learn a lot here about local culture and history. The house itself is beautiful, inside and outside. Staff is also very friendly and helpful. Oh, and it is one of the cheapest places in the city to try their local liquor, the Riga Black Balsam. One shot was around €2.50 if I remember correctly.
