We had a wonderful birthday lunch at Gitane. Booking for a larger group was easy, and the staff were incredibly accommodating. The food arrived promptly, starting with delicious starters, and there was a perfect balance of time between courses to eat and chat.

The mains were lovely as well, especially the steak. The restaurant has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were attentive and friendly throughout. Recommended :))

Pros: The host and waiter were really sweet and nice people! The location and ambience was nice/cozy romantic. We did a special festive tasting menu which started really strong - unfortunately it didn’t stay strong but I would still say the food was pretty good and worth checking out, especially for the value of price. Also they had a good selection of wines!

Cons: I give it a 4 stars bc the service was painfullyyyy slow, esp considering it was a set menu for everyone. Res was at 20:30 for a 5 course meal and didn’t leave until 23:30 and that was after asking them to start bring plates quickly. They were nice about this ofc but it was a lot to have 35+ mins between each dish in a set tasting menu.

Loved this place! So refreshing to find places like Gitane in Amsterdam where the service is good & the people are friendly. The quantity and quality of the food is vast and totally value for money if you do the menu course. Different variety of food and the atmosphere is lovely! Would definitely come again

We booked in advance for a Saturday night. The restaurant was full, and despite an issue with our booking, they managed to find space and set up a table for two.
The food was excellent. We started with the burrata and the Jerusalem artichoke, followed by the aubergine and the cod with broccolini. We finished with the pear. Everything was delicious, but a special mention goes to the sauces—the one paired with the burrata was particularly outstanding.
However, during dinner, they decided to dim the lights almost completely. While the atmosphere was already subdued, this was a bit too much for our taste. Without the candle placed very close to us, it was hard to see what was on our plates. That was the only negative aspect.
Aside from that, the staff were incredibly friendly, and the dishes were excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Gitane is my favorite restaurant in Amsterdam.

Romantic, sophisticated, refined, intimate and nicely decorated. Perfect for a romantic dinner. Gitane brings great memories and has been the perfect first date restaurant.

The service is really good, and huge thanks to our waiter who has always been very nice and took time to explain everything on the table. He also was there the second time we went and was again perfect. Happy his trip to Paris went well :)

Food is great! Recommend to try everything and special haul to the cote the boeuf and the beetroot.

See you again very soon!
