A hidden gem in Funchal.  The gardens here are amazing!   Free to visit and wander around, we spent almost 2 hrs here.   The trees and plants are labelled which helped as there were many we hadn't seen elsewhere.
Oh, and the huge tortoise was a delight to see.

As part of our week-long mini moon to Madeira we had our final two nights at the luxurious looking Quinta Jardins do Lago! After hopping round the island it was the perfect to arrive at this hotel, put my feet up and enjoy the amazing tranquility, gardens and food that this hotel has to offer.

The room itself was exceptional and lovely gesture of the hotel to provide us with a bottle of sparkling wine. The entire staff are fantastic to talk to from the front of house to the waiters. Particular mentions must go to Fatima & Felipe for their excellent service and sense of humour!

I can't freely confess to being a huge garden fanatic but the whole place is immaculately well kept. We obviously paid particular attention to the hotel's longtime resident Colombo!

The food itself is fantastic either from the restaurant or having lunch by the pool. I recommend their steak sandwich!

It was a shame we only had 2 nights at this hotel but when visiting again we wouldn't hesitate to book here!

In July we had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Quinta Jardins do Lago, located on the hill just above the city of Funchal, Madeira. From start to finish, this hotel truly embodies a 5-star experience. Every aspect, from the staff and location to the food and rooms, was absolutely perfect.

Perched on a hill overlooking Funchal, the hotel's location offers stunning views and a peaceful retreat from the city's hustle and bustle. The ambiance is serene and inviting, providing a perfect balance of luxury and tranquility.

The staff at Hotel Quinta Jardins do Lago are exceptional. They are extremely friendly and go out of their way to ensure that guests have a memorable stay. Whether it's arranging a cab or offering recommendations for restaurants in the city, the staff's attentiveness and eagerness to assist are commendable. Their warm hospitality truly enhances the overall experience.

The hotel is immaculate, with cleanliness maintained to the highest standards in all areas. From the lobby to the rooms and the gardens, every corner of the hotel reflects the meticulous attention to detail that sets this establishment apart.

The gardens are a highlight of the property. They are beautifully landscaped with a variety of plants and flowers, providing a serene and picturesque environment. One charming feature is the hotel's resident tortoise, Colombo, who adds a unique and delightful touch to the experience.

The food at Hotel Quinta Jardins do Lago is truly outstanding. The menu features original dishes that highlight the creativity and skill of the culinary team. During our short stay of five days, the menu changed, offering a fresh and exciting dining experience each day. Breakfast was a particular delight, with fresh eggs and other dishes made to order. This attention to culinary detail is one of the many reasons this hotel stands out.

I don’t know why but we got a free upgrade to the Villa with our family of 5, the Villa has space for 8 people and it was very spacious, elegantly furnished, and equipped with all the amenities one could desire. The attention to detail in the decor and comfort of the accommodations is evident, making it easy to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

It's a place I would definitely return to, knowing that an exceptional experience awaits. Didn’t make a lot of pictures about the hotel itself ;-)

This hotel was above our expectations, a true gem! The gardens are unique, easily better than anything else on the island, and making it hard to leave the hotel sometimes. The staff are exemplary, with a level of service not usually seen even at other top hotels.
Would definitely stay here again next time in Madeira!

I am so grateful for the level of service I received here.

It was my partner's birthday and the hotel staff went above and beyond to make sure that everything went smoothly and that we had a wonderful time.

The staff are so professional, responsive and competent. Genuinely 5 star performance.

The hotel itself is also beautiful. The gardens are breathtaking and manicured to perfection and the pool area is relaxing and well serviced.
