This is a place not to miss and worth to see and explore. I do recommend to buy tickets in advance as there is a line of people and it will take some time to buy them on the spot and enter.
Plus is they have for a small fee audio guide so you can explore on your own and walk around.
I was really impressed by the beauty of it both from the inside and outside.
Also there is a package of tickets to buy which will grant you access to the upper part of the building.

Well apart from the magnificent architecture, the amazing facades with sculptures and massive granite columns, interior features detailed mosaic icons, paintings, and columns made of malachite and lapis lazuli and the brilliant the large stained glass window of the "Resurrected Christ" inside the main altar, the best part for us was the view from the top after climbing the 300 steps. This is a wonderful place and must see.

As the largest Russian Orthodox cathedral located in St. Petersburg, possessing a unique design with wonderful architecture, this place that preserves historical relics has attracted many visitors.
The building was originally built to dedicate to Saint Isaac of Dalmatia - the patron saint of Peter the Great, who was born on this holy day.
The design of the building was carefully selected by the king from 24 design plans of architect Ogastano - an extremely famous architect at that time. It was also thanks to his wonderful aesthetic eye that he chose a work that made a wonderful work of the city of Saint Petersburg, splendid and unique.
Construction began in 1818 but it was not until 40 years later, in 1857, that the project was actually completed.

-During the Second World War, the church was severely damaged. Today, the stone pillars of the church still bear the marks of bullets from the fierce battles.

-In 1948, the church was converted into a museum called “St. Isaac’s Cathedral” and the museum was completed and renovated in 1950-1960.
