I recently visited Balausta in the heart of Malaga, and I was very impressed by the experience. The atmosphere was relaxing and welcoming, with a chill vibe that made me feel at ease. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, adding to the overall warmth of the restaurant.

I must say, this was one of the most delicious meals i’ve ever had. The food is amazing but the service can be improved. We have waited more than 15 minutes to order, but once ordered the food came quickly. The staff didn’t even come once to pour the wine for us, never asked how the food is (although it was delicious, it is expected that in this kind of a restaurant the service will be more attentive), and the first waiter didn’t really know to recommend a wine for the food we ordered. After he took our initial order, he switched with another waitress, which knew more about the wine and the food. The manager also attended some tables, but never asked if it was all good on our table. Anyway, i strongly recommend this restaurant for the food, but don’t set your expectations too high on the service side.

While the food is delicious, it is not worth the bad service and long waits. We showed up at 8pm for dinner and while granted we didn’t have a reservation they said if we waited at the bar they’d have a table in 15 minutes. 20 minutes later the bartender says our table is ready so we were seated. We waited 30 minutes from sitting down for someone to take our drink order. We ordered the croquetes, octopus and goat leg. The croquettes took 45 minutes to come out and then each dish after another 45 minutes each. While waiting for the food no server came by to check on us asking if we needed anything. Multiple times they made eye contact and kept walking disregarding our empty wine glasses and water. In total it took 3 hours from start to finish…. The atmosphere is nice inside with good decor but it is very sterile feeling and too quiet. I have never written a bad review as I have worked in service before and understand having “off” days, but this was painfully annoying. If you go prepare for the food to be delicious but the service to be slow.

Absolutely one of my fave spots in Malaga old town. A peaceful tranquil haven in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city. Elegant dining with slick service, a fantastic cocktail menu and wine list. Servers are happy to give you their recommendations and all of the food was delicious.

Very nice athmosphere, authentic venue with an interesting history. Super service oriented staff. Good suggestions. Foodwise we opted for the authentic regional dishes. Asperges for starter; suggestion to increase the amount of mushrooms and somewhat less sauce to balance the dish and keep it light. Main course sea bass, dish was again a bit heavy on the sauce, fish was a tat over its perfect cuisson, the beans on top were a nice addition while ot lifted the total dish. Dessert was perfect with a special fruit from the region; good pairing with the recommended dessert wine. So all in all a pleasant evening, with a fair price-value on the food. Recommendation for everyone who likes to enjoy authentic cuisine de Malaga!
