Great hotel for a two night stay for 2 adults and 2 children. We stayed in a family room with bunk beds and balcony. It’s hard to find rooms in Madrid that are spacious for a family of 4 but this fit the bill. The breakfast was excellent: Blanca was able to get us a 1 pm check in after a 7 am arrival. We were very grateful. Location is was excellent. Close to shopping, restaurants and Royal palace. We enjoyed our experience and stay!

Rooms are small, and that´s understandable. However, the restroom has little privacy.
Great service from the staff, I just don´t like sharing a lot my phone, email and credit card info as guarantee. That´s not on the staff, that´s on the hotel policy.
The location is excellent for walking tourism; keep in mind there is no vehicle access until 2 blocks away; this is for carrying luggage.

Amazing location, steps from Puerta del Sol. I thought it would be louder at night but was pleased with the noise level, especially at the city center.

Customer service and attention to detail were wonderful.

We stayed in a quad room (2 adults and 2 teens). It was more spacious than we had expected and the terrace was very large, and provided us with more space to spread out.

The bathroom was very large as well, with a large shower with good water pressure. I liked that for 4 people, we were given 4 towels from the beginning and didn't have to ask for more.

We had decided to pay for breakfast with our room rate. It was a bit expensive, but we made the choice for convenience. There was a large amount of choice each day- cheeses and meats, different kinds of bread and rolls, pastries, fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, fresh orange juice, other juices, coffee machines, tea, and other milks (lactose free and soy were available).

The hotel staff was wonderful. Everyone at the desk greeted us warmly when we entered or exited the hotel. Especially wonderful was Blanca, who checked us in, made sure we knew how everything worked, and provided us with information that we asked for.

The location is great for travelers in foot, as you are in walking distance to everything in the center. If you need to use the metro or cercanías trains, they are also just at Sol (which makes it easy to get to Atocha and Chamartín train stations for day trips or other travel). There is also a taxi stop just around the corner on Calle Mayor, which we used to get to the airport. Keep in mind that if you are taking a taxi to or from the hotel, the Puerta del Sol is a pedestrian area, so you may need to walk a little bit to get to or from your taxi. (The front desk will arrange for a departure taxi for you.)

I hope to return to Madrid again some day, and I would without a doubt stay at the Petit Plaza Puerta del Sol again.

We recently stayed at this hotel, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst experiences we’ve ever had. Despite booking and paying in full three months in advance, we were given a room that was completely unacceptable—especially considering the price of €180 per night.

First of all, the room was extremely dark and claustrophobic. The only window faced an apartment shaft, meaning there was no natural light or fresh air. To make matters worse, the air conditioning did not work because it was winter, and since the window didn’t bring in any air, we felt suffocated.

The layout of the room was also terrible. There was a large column right in the middle, making it difficult to move around. The lighting was poorly designed—there was only one switch, which controlled four harsh white spotlights on the ceiling. This meant that you were either in complete darkness or sitting under blindingly bright lights, with no in-between.

The bed situation was shocking. The duvet cover was open on three sides, exposing a dirty inner duvet that directly touched our skin. We have never seen such an unhygienic setup in any hotel before. Additionally, there were no power outlets near the bed, so we had to charge our phones across the room.

Even the bathroom had issues. The sink faucet slowly dropped down while in use, which was frustrating.

Overall, the biggest issue was the oppressive, dungeon-like atmosphere of the room. If the hotel was fully booked due to Valentine’s Day, that should not have been our problem—we reserved and paid in advance specifically to avoid such issues. This room was simply not worth the price, and giving it to us despite our early booking felt like an insult.

We would never stay here again and do not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, well-designed stay.

Before our arrival, we sent an email (I added the photo, perhaps the email did not reach you.) requesting a city-view room, but we never received a response. Upon check-in, we immediately contacted reception to change our room, but we were told it was not possible despite available rooms in the hotel.

I think,this is not just about “different room types”—the room we were given lacked proper ventilation, natural light, and even basic comfort standards, at least maybe you can change lighting fixtures or add 2700kelvin lamp bulbs for a little more liveable atmosphere.

We hope your management takes real action to stop assigning substandard rooms and ensures future guests do not face the same experience.

My stay at Petit Palace Puerta del Sol was fantastic, largely thanks to Vanessa at reception. Her five-star customer service made all the difference – she offered thoughtful restaurant recommendations and was always attentive and caring. Vanessa’s warm personality truly made the experience memorable. The hotel’s location is right in the heart of Madrid, with most attractions within easy walking distance. Perfect spot for anyone looking to explore the vibrant city!
