Exceptional food and wine, we were accommodated twice without a reservation which was appreciated. The amuse bouche was excellent, beautiful wine selection which they'll pair with your food without hesitation. Basque cheesecake is the best in town. I agree with the reviews re service, they hurry the intro and take your drinks/starter/main/dessert order up front then forget about you for hours. We sat with empty wine glasses for a length of time on both visits. Food is Michelin level but the service needs some help.

Centrally located near San Sebastián Cathedral and inside one of the coolest hotels in the city (Arbaso) is this great Basque cuisine restaurant. Very genuine and using top quality ingredients with modern touches. Everything in the menu is excellent, seafood, fish, meats and vegetables as well as seasonal specials. Great desserts too. A must in the city. Two options: the formal restaurant or the bar area (personally prefer the menu at the bar area as it contains same items as the restaurant and additional nice informal tapas like croquetas). Good selection of wines and cocktails. Service is correct although a bit dry at first.

It came highly recommended so we indulged. Twice. Once for lunch then for dinner.
So….. i’m not certain if it’s a social cultural difference between the Spanish and everybody else but both times after the means were served we were left unattended. We had to flag down our server after many many moments to be able to get our dessert and a refill on the wine. very odd especially for this to happen twice. It’s about the only thing that irk us but it’s not a huge thing if it is the way the Spanish do things. Everything else was perfect.

We’ve been wanting to try this place for ages, and it totally lived up to the hype. The staff was super friendly and made us feel right at home, which we always appreciate in the city center.

The prices are a bit on the higher side (check for yourselves on the picture), but honestly, for the quality of the food, portion sizes, and presentation, I’d give it a solid 9/10. Totally worth it and not expensive at all (remember you're still in San Sebastian and this is a high-end restaurant/bar).

I have to shout out the tortilla de patata — it was freshly made, and while it didn’t have an intense flavor, it’s exactly what you want in a tortilla: quality eggs, good potatoes, and a skilled cook. Simple and tasty. We’ll definitely be back; highly recommend!
