We loved it. However we happened to.got here on a cloudy day. However we must say that the parking is paid parking. 2 hours for 40 SEK. Which is a tad too much.

The waterfall is wild, with the water falling 38 meters. It is 60 meters wide. When there is the most water in the falls, it would only take a quarter of an hour to fill the entire large arena, Globen, in Stockholm.

Old, beautiful forest
Around the waterfall grows a thick and dense forest with shaggy trees. The ground is covered in moss. It's easy to start imagining and seeing the ugly trolls and beautiful fairies from fairy tales.

The area around Tännforsen is unusual due to the steady and high humidity created by the waterfall's mist. Therefore, there are rare and very special plants and animals in the area.

Tourists arrived in the 19th century
The first tourists came when Skalstugevägen was renovated in 1835. At that time, King Karl XIV Johan was present. Back then, visitors had to take a boat across Tännsjön to the northern side of the waterfall, as there was no road.

In the early 1900s, the Tännforsen tourist station and the road to it were built. Therefore, it is easy to reach Tännforsen today.

The waterfall Tännforsen has been threatened several times by hydroelectric development. The most recent occurrence was in the 1940s when the National Power Board wanted to build large dams and flood the area. At that time, Tännforsen would have dried up and died.

However, local residents did not want Tännforsen to become silent. They put up strong resistance, and eventually, the waterfall was protected. Since 1971, it has been a nature reserve and is a very popular destination.

Wonderful place to visit. Just a very short walk to the waterfalls. Stunning views all over. Must visit when in the area. Also there is no fee so free to visit. Just a small parking fee. Amazing
