Amazing Food and Service!

The food here is absolutely delicious. I had the tasting menu. The fish was super fresh and just melted in my mouth. The black cod was perfectly cooked, flaking beautifully, and the miso soup was surprisingly one of my favorites—it was outstanding!

Naomi, our waitress, was excellent. She gave great recommendations and made sure everything was served with a great pacing.

I’ll definitely be coming back!

We visited Robun for our anniversary. The venue was much louder and more vibrant than I had expected (think noisy restaurant vibe versus high end classy). We chose the Robun Experience with wine pairing which comes with a choice of either Sake or Wine with each course. Things didn’t start well as the food was plonked onto the table with no ceremony and no accompanying wine. When the wine was delivered after we asked, it was without choice because ‘most people don’t like sake’. Hmm..still nice to be asked.
The butterfish was next, paired with a Picpoul rather than the advertised wine. The fish was bland but the raw wagyu beef much better, although poorly matched with the wine. Miso soup was good. The sushi came next which was much better than I was expecting, although fairly coarsely presented it tasted good.
Main course picked things up, a fabulous piece of black cod and a sublime, generous portion of grilled Wagyu plus rice and vegetables, all GF which was great! This was paired with a Bordeaux which worked well.
Dessert was a let down though, a rather solid lump of chocolate pudding. The GF option of little ice creams was very tasty.
Service throughout was pretty poor, no explanation of the food and like engagement. A good example of the front of house letting down a hard working kitchen.  Would find it hard to recommend until the service is sorted, I considered removing the service charge but thought this was unfair on the staff. I recommend the management invest in some training.

Nice restaurant in a good location, great food  and dishes served beautifully . Lamb chops are really tasty.
Service is a bit slow, once we got the table it took a while to get the menu and the restaurant was not even full.

Massive disappointment. I've been looking forward to visiting Robun for ages, my favourite Japanese place in London turned into a clichéd Korean-fake -sushi place and I moved to the South West. The menu is limited but I hoped this would mean exquisite food. I was wrong. Tiny portions of sushi no better than you buy in a supermarket but for quadruple the price.
I was really looking forward to the tuna tartare. What a joke: their version has the consistency of tinned tuna but absolutely drenched in cheap fake truffle oil which is all you can taste and a tiny portion. No taste of tuna at all. The only good thing was they put some caviar on top.
I was most annoyed about the 'chefs special tuna selection' (cost £28) which you see in the picture. I couldn't believe my eyes. As well as it including yet another even smaller portion of the awful tuna tartare (why didn't the waitess inform me I was ordering the same dish twice??), all you got was a couple of bits of tuna sashimi and a couple of pieces of Tina making exactly like you get in a supermarket. At a cost of £28...seriously? Disgraceful. The tempura prawns were also nothing special and a tiny portion. They could add caviar to that to make itvmore special. I also had a tiny bite of mido black cod costing £28. Anyway, at least now I know and won't go back. I would honestly rather have gone to Yo Sushi or even Pizza Express for a fraction of the cost of the meal here. I am happy to spend money on exquisite food but this place takes the mickey. Not worth it at all.

Mixed bag here. They have had a great idea for this restaurant - the decor is wonderful and the menu looks great but the execution in the kitchen is not quite where it needs to be. The Spicy Edamame have a hot sauce squirted all over them...no subtlety to this dish at all and messy as hell to eat. The Karage Chicken was a little undercooked and not at all crisp on the outside. Finally we had the Iberico Pork Ribs, which while it came in a dome full of smoke (see photo), was somewhat lacklustre in flavour.

If you haven't been to Japan as many times as me, you might like it here and the service was great, but it's not for me...it wasn't full, so you have to wonder if Bath hasn't already come to the same conclusion.
