I had the pleasure of dining at Montrose Restaurant on Saturday, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The dishes were beautifully curated, showcasing a perfect balance of flavors and presentation that truly delighted the senses. Each plate was a work of art, reflecting the skill and creativity of the kitchen team.

To complement the fantastic food, we were treated to an exceptional wine selection curated by Murray, the sommelier. His expertise and recommendations elevated our meal, pairing each course perfectly with wines that enhanced the overall dining experience.

A special thank you to Angus, who served us throughout the evening. His attentiveness and friendly demeanor made us feel welcomed and well taken care of, contributing to the overall enjoyment of our visit.

The only feedback I have is regarding the cheese course. Typically, when restaurants offer a cheese selection, it includes four cheeses, crackers, and accompaniments. However, at Montrose, this selection comes to £32, which I find rather expensive for just cheese.

That said, I can't wait to return to Montrose and experience the magic of their menu and wine offerings again! Thank you !

I had the absolute pleasure of celebrating a big birthday at Montrose a few weeks ago. I reserved the upstairs dining room and 24 of my closest family and friends shared an incredible evening. It was one of the best meals I’ve ever had, each of the 4 courses, hors d’oeuvres and oysters and cheeses were incredible. We were served by an incredible team, keeping our glasses filled with wine and plates replenished with food. Pauline, Angus and Sam took such good care of us and Jennie, whom I planned everything through, provided top notch customer service and kindness. I still can’t get over how incredible it all was. If I could do it every year, I absolutely would. Do not miss out on this amazing restaurant. The wine was amazing, the food was unforgettable and the service is unparalleled. This is a very, very special establishment.

Specifically booked at table and paid deposit in advance, and when I arrived, they sat me at the bar, which was the beginning of my terrible experience at Montrose. The waiters are constantly rushing around the room, bumping customers. The room is loud and chaotic. Difficult to enjoy a nice glass of wine or meal. Their food is a little overpriced for the offerings. They have a great wine selection however and nice lighting inside the place. Finally, I want to highlight the great quality of oysters they have.

Surprisingly few wines available by the glass for a wine bar. The set lunch menu was rather limited although what they did offer was tasty enough.
Their dog friendly policy will make it unlikely that we return due to allergies.

Lovely spot for delicious and interesting food

The bar is great for something a little lighter and relaxed, and the restaurant upstairs is great if you're wanting a more structured meal.

I've enjoyed both greatly, but my favourite thing to do is to pop into the bar, have a few really choice smaller dishes and a couple of glasses of wine.

Their natural wines are the ones to go for, there's often a few quite exciting ones on by the glass (and an extensive bottle list if that's what you want).

They usually have oysters on, and they are a dab hand at adding exciting flavours on top without overwhelming them - delicious!
