If you want a classic cocktail in Leith a little late at night, this is the place.

To me, it's kitschy and a bit silly with the steampunk sort of idea, but the drinks are done well. It's a little hit or miss with the friendliness of the bartender, but the other staff are all good. It's a pretty big place, but most times, we felt like the only people there.

But honestly, I asked the barman for a proper Sazerac, no other info, and he made me the perfect one. He really knows his classics and does them very well. I feel like any of the standards would be a good choice here.

It was a bar we hit up multiple times because it is consistent, open late enough, and has a good selection of drinks.

Cocktail menu is extensive and they are delectable. I had the spicy margarita and the clarified pina coloda, thoroughly enjoyed both. Also enjoyed the banana/rum cocktail the server suggested, however I was away with the faeries by this point so can’t recall the name.

Very tasty food!! Lovely interior design with nice comfy booths. Large table at the rear of the pub suitable for events. Outdoor seating area at the back of the pub.

We have just spent a couple of days in Leith and The Barologist was top of the list to go to, maybe because George Armstrong aka Ulysses G Houston is from our neck of the woods, but it just looked like a cool place.
We weren’t disappointed.
Welcoming staff from the start, nothing was too much trouble, good selection of drinks, the food was spot on.
The themed rooms are amazing and there’s always something to look at or discover.
I wish we were staying for longer as it’s definitely a go to place to eat each day.
We’ll be back when next in the area.
