I was given a gifted afternoon tea experience at the Royal Horse Guard, which I had been looking forward to. However, considering the price she paid, I don’t believe the food or service met the expected standard.

We arrived 7 minutes early and were told to wait until 1pm to be seated. We assumed they would escort us to our table at that time, but when others who had just arrived started forming a queue, we had to join in. As a result, it took at least 20 minutes from when we entered to when we were finally seated.

When the afternoon tea was served, it was clear the sandwiches weren’t freshly made, the scones were smaller than usual, and the waiter didn’t explain what each dessert or sandwich was (a standard part of any afternoon tea). The menus had been taken, so we had no way of identifying the items. My friend, who avoids alcohol, had to ask if any of the desserts contained alcohol, and thankfully she did because one of the items did. This is a serious oversight, as people could have dietary restrictions, be pregnant, or follow faiths that prohibit alcohol, and they should have been informed in advance.

There was only one staff member looking after the area where we were seated, which led to slow service. It took 45 minutes for our platter to arrive, and we had to keep flagging down the server to request more tea.

Given the price she paid, I’m disappointed and shocked by the lack of quality in both the food and the staff. This doesn’t even account for the service charge, which was an additional cost on top of everything else.

For a 5-star hotel, this experience was far below the expected standards.

Our stay at The Royal Horseguards Hotel in Westminster was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm hospitality by the friendly and attentive staff, who made sure every detail of our visit was perfect.

The location is unbeatable—situated right on the Thames, offering breathtaking views overlooking the London Eye and some of the city's most iconic landmarks. Whether day or night, the view from our room was absolutely stunning.

Speaking of rooms, ours was spacious, elegantly decorated, and incredibly comfortable. The bed was plush and cozy, ensuring a restful night’s sleep after a long day exploring London. The attention to detail in the decor and amenities made our stay feel truly luxurious.

One of the highlights was the fantastic dining experience. Breakfast was a real treat, with a wide variety of delicious options to start the day right. For dinner, we indulged in the 20oz Tomahawk steak, which was cooked to perfection—juicy, flavorful, and absolutely mouthwatering. The restaurant’s ambiance was perfect, and the service was impeccable.

Overall, The Royal Horseguards Hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. The combination of stunning views, prime location, luxurious rooms, top-notch dining, and outstanding service makes it an excellent choice for anyone visiting London. We can’t wait to return!

CREAM OF THE CROP! I unknowingly booked The Royal Horseguards Hotel for a birthday getaway with my wife and son. Upon taking the short walk from Embankment arose out of the earth, the stunning masterpiece that is the Horseguards. The staff was very welcoming, and check-in was a breeze. Centrally located to all of the top attractions, we were more than pleased with our stay. With an endless amount of food options surrounding we had no problems with hunger. The great news is we will be staying again in November as we Americans have decided to skip Thanksgiving and live the british way of life for the week. See yall soon!!!

Lovely old world hotel with immense charm and history. Great location, lovely views, tasty food, and most importantly, wonderful staff. Eliecer, the concierge we dealt, with was the most charming, hospitable and professional person, and we couldn’t be more impressed. They were incredibly friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure our experience was seamless. Their attention to detail and genuine care for guests was evident in everything they did. A huge thank you to him and all the staff at the hotel.

This hotel looks like a palace from the outside. Rooms are big but a little out dated but looking back 15 years- 20 years it would be pretty amazing. The rooms have everything you need. Very comfortable beds and very clean rooms. Location is fantastic just next to the London eye and the other side by the strand. So you have museums and broadway shows at your feet.
