The noodles arrived faster than anticipated.  Great meal on a cold winter day.  We each had a different bowl of udon.  The appies were crispy and the mushroom was hearty.
I enjoyed the abundance of seaweed in my bowl.  Everyone enjoyed their meal.  Would return.

Tried their TenTofu Udon (Cold) which comes with 2 prawn tempura, fried tofu and tempura egg. It was my first time trying their cold udon and it did not disappoint. The dish was refreshing and noodles cooked with just the perfect amount of chewiness.

Also ordered the Curry Tomago Toji, Shiitake tempura and a side of Ika tempura. All were good and would order again.

I had lunch at Motonobu Udon again today and tried a variety of bowls, all of which were satisfying. The Niku Toji Udon came with what seems to be either a perfectly braised strip steak beef slices or rib eye steak that paired beautifully with the rich and flavorful broth. I wanted to note that the meat slice is bigger and much thicker, with lots of fats that adds flavour without feeling too overwhelming. Adding the onsen egg was a great choice—it was silky and blended seamlessly into the soup, enhancing the overall texture and flavor.

The Ten Waka Udon was another standout, with a hearty broth complemented by the braised pork belly that was cooked to perfection—juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The addition of the kelp gave the dish a fresh umami taste, balancing out the richness of all the texture and flavour.

I liked the open kitchen setup, where you can see all the action as your food is being prepared—it adds a nice touch of transparency and liveliness to the experience. The low-key, casual atmosphere made it an ideal spot to enjoy these comforting bowls of udon. You can tell that each dish were uniquely prepared. It had a depth of flavor that clearly reflected the care put into preparing the broths, meats, and toppings. Freshly hand made udon, nice bigger meat cuts, and flavourful soup broths makes Motonobu stand out differently from others. On top of all, service is great.

Overall, the food hit all the right notes, and I’d definitely recommend it! Definitely one of the best or if not, the best udon in Vancouver. Good value. This is comparable to the good udon places I’ve tried in Japan. Authentic!

I had been wanting to come to this Udon shop for quite some time, but it was always closed when we got there. Finally, we got in.

Udon soup was perfect for a gloomy afternoon. All the staff seemed to be Japanese and the taste of the two items we ordered was authentic. It reminded me of the days I used to live in Japan.

We ordered one beef seaweed udon soup and a spicy tan tan noodle soup. Udon had a great texture, chewy but not too soft. Tan tan came with some cha siu which was the cherry on the cake.

We were served Genmaicha and were charged per person. We did not recall we were told about the charge, but it was on the menu under soft drink.

They might be on the more expensive side, but given the overall experience, it was not too bad.

Probably would come back as it is a specialized udon place after all, and I love udon.

Very traditional concept of udon restaurant, tasted like in Japan. Comforting, simple, yet many add-on options if you want. We went with the curry tamago toji (egg swirl) udon soup and the Spicy tantan (not too spicy, the waitress suggested we can have the spicy oil on the side which is a great option!) Not expensive, freshly made, I recommend! The Michelin 2023 and 2024 recognitions are well deserved!!
